Does anybody know what this is? It was about an inch 3cm long had a 2 inch 5cm wingspan , had a long tube for sucking nectar and behaved like a giant hoverfly. It was seen in Leicester , UK today 23rd August 2022. It had partly orange wings.

I found this photo amongst my great, great Aunt Bessie Milligan's (nee Richardson) belongings. My aunt lived in St. Catharines, Ontario from 1900-1992 & when she passed away I inherited her photo albums.
The pandemic has given me time to sort through the photographs & post them on Flickr.
I don't know the identity of this woman. It's not my aunt.
The only thing I know about this photograph is the name of the photographer which is located on the bottom right hand corner. Edwin Poole of St. Catharines, Ontario.
My father-in-law, Ernie Pringle, would have been 100 on 30th June 2020 so here are what I have been able to salvage from his wartime photos. Lots of unknown places and faces, so if anybody is able to shed light anywhere that would be much appreciated.
He served in the RAF as a mechanic in No. 71 Motor Transport Light Repair Unit.
