When looking for that perfect composition, you sometimes do the unexpected. My husband and I were shooting an evening sky not knowing what to expect with the colors. We both were wearing long pants because of the bugs that were out to get a good meal. However, hubby had these marvellous pants where the legs zip off to make shorts so he could wade into the shallow water. When the sky suddenly showed promise of great reflections and color in the water as well as the sky above, he went for the better composition by going into the water. Then the sky truly exploded with color and I decided to just go for it and waded in with my long pants! There was a lady on shore who gasped when I went in fully clothed with camera and tripod to stand beside my husband. But I did get a nice shot ( which I will post later) and the pants dried quickly the next day.

Lost in the back streets of Venice...

The journey continues, follow me and thanks for the visits!

There is a story to this series of five pictures. I have lived in the same area of East Vancouver, Washington for about 10 years, but didn’t know about this small protected wildlife area. Such an unexpected surprise!

Quebec Gatineau surprised us today with extra QGRY 3537 West, leaving l'Ancienne Lorette yard at 1400 with their employee special Christmas train, bound for Trois-Rivières.

QGRY made absolutely no publicity about this move, the heads up came from a facebook post at noon (thanks Sam!). The Christmas consist was supposed to leave on westbound 920 but due to a weight pulling limit on the van (2500 tons max) the consist went as an extra move ahead of 920 this afternoon.

It was an overcast day. Late afternoon hike in woods led us around this glacial erratic. I would have just passed by but sun came out for a moment and the dappled light did its magic. Had to stop and pull out the camera.

I expected to be just photographing this rose but the unexpected happened. This insect flew into view and stayed for just a few seconds. I think the insect might be a wasp but I'm not sure.

Sunset in an early winter-night scene....where is the global warming????

Whilst up at Bowfiddle Rock in Portknockie the sky was amazing, I took this shot as I liked the unexpected leading line / shadows on the sea. Pulling my eye into the post sunset lightshow above :-) This was a long exposure using my kit lens and a single cokin ND8 filter.

This picture was such a pleasant surprise. We were visiting someone in Riverhead Long Island and stumbled upon this little Bison farm

a wonderful start to 2021

In the evenings the sun shines in my kitchen so beautifully and while I was preparing dinner, I discovered this unexpected shadows from the cheese grater. I shoot this kitchen subject so often and in so many different angles but never realized this shadows before. 😁

I frequently hear this Pheasant but my many attempts to locate and photograph it have typically ended in failure. Today it decided to walk across my path as if I was not even there.

I was composing a shot of this red carpet when a gentleman stopped abruptly in front to re-tie his shoe... :)

There were weeds popping through the pavement near a vacant commercial property, but the patch of purple thistle and seed pods was an unexpected surprise. Spear Thistle (Cirsium vulgare), One photo a day (195/366) -- Bayside, Queens, NYC -- July 13, 2020

Before I was able to surprise her with her watch ( She loves it BTW ) she surprised me with this. A month ago I sent her a screenshot of this Duro and asked her what she thought about it, she said it was OK. How thoughtful 😁 This makes Duro #3.

You never know what to expect when there is a storm at the beach. But no weatherapp (I use three) was predicting any light yesterday. I went anyway, also for a little walk. But although the sky was nothing but grey and rain was pouring down indeed, little patches of light started to break through around sunset. From that moment things only got better:)

I was sitting for a bit in a public area in Cambria. At some point I looked up and found this beetle looking back. I eased back, it eased back. No creatures harmed in this encounter.

I have absolutely no idea what sort of beetle it may have been.

Suggestions appreciated.

To take a good photo of this unexpected visitor, I climbed onto the roof of my room, balancing precariously on tiles made slippery by the rain. He was kind enough to wait for me, especially while he was attacked by hummingbirds that were nesting near his perch.

I found this little plant growing in my garden... I noticed the leaves were different from anything I had ever seen, so I let it grow to see what it would be!!

It spread pretty wide with tiny little buds... then they started to open into the sweetest little daisies I had ever seen. A friend told me they are called Chamomile.... or maybe Anacyclus!

German chamomile is an annual plant, however, it self-seeds so readily, you may think it's a perennial just like Roman chamomile
