we took a last minute visit to the cotswolds hoping to see hares boxing and male pheasants fighting, we saw neither of those but were graced for a few minutes by this beautiful barn owl as it quartered a field over a dry stone wall, such a fantastic sight.

Rencontre inattendue

From my rose bush in summer. The rose wasn't quite perfect anymore, but it had an unexpected surprise. A heart.

On our last night in the Grand Teton National Park, I had scheduled for us to be at Schwbacher’s Landing at sunset. This was the first location we visited prior to making our way up to Yellowstone NP a few days before. We shot this location at sunrise (I still haven’t posted any of those images) but I really wanted to see what kind of light I would get at this time of day.

I was actually shooting the scene of the mountain range about 30 yards down to the right when I decided I had enough of that spot and that we should head back a little to get a few more compositions from back closer to the trailhead. As we were shooting, a single moose came out of the pine trees and walked all the way to the marsh in front of us (about 20 yards away!) and those amazing sunset rays were peaking over the range.

Snow + Sunrays + Moose = Jackpot! We saw in total five moose on our few days in the park and it really made our trip. This was our first time seeing them in the wild. The others were all males with big antlers over near the Gros Ventre area. That is a story for another day.

Anna's Hummingbird, Western Honey Bee and the flower is Texas Salvia alias "The Texas Ranger" I cleared a space for the hummer to land then filled the flower with hummingbird food. I anticipate the bees would come too, But a photobombing bee was unexpected.

The very beautiful restored staircase at the Lighthouse Inn in New London, Connecticut

After 2 months back to street with my camera and i get an unexpected present

There are an estimated 2000 arches in Arches National Park, but this one is quite unique. Unlike many of the others that are in wide open space, and even some of them being free standing, this one was tucked away in one of Utah's many beautiful slot canyons. It is not what you would expect to see in a place like this. However, the unexpected can be incredibly beautiful! Many times life takes unexpected turns and we have no idea what the end outcome will be. We feel as if we have lost control. Thank goodness that the all powerful and supreme Creator of the universe steers the ship and at the end there is a beauty beyond words with no comparison!
