The Buffer tool, a geoprocessing tool in the Analysis toolbox in ArcToolbox, generates buffer polygons, or offsets, around input features at a specified distance. Buffers show the area that is within some distance of the input features. The tool is popular because the concept of buffering is easy to understand and buffering plays an important role in many geoprocessing workflows involving proximity or distance analysis (i.e., How far away are these things? or What features are within a distance of other features?). Because the Buffer tool is important in performing proximity tasks, a key goal for developers working on this tool has been to ensure that buffers accurately depict distances around features. Better data is becoming available on economic activity within countries, often much exceeding the available information of economic activity across countries. This creates new research opportunities for testing economic theory, analyzing market structures and the sources of market segmentation, and making predictions of how economic shocks propagate across space. The aim of this conference is to bring together researchers from urban economics, industrial organization, health economics, and international trade to study production and trade within and across countries.

This worksheet attempts to do four things:

1.) There are multiple forces on each object doing work. Since the person's pull and the other force are in opposite directions, the work done by the pull and that done by the person have opposite signs

2.) If the object isn't moved a distance, it doesn't matter that there's a force, the equation W=Fd means that the work will be zero.

3.) If a force does negative work, in many cases, the work done against it (namely the work done by your push or pull) is stored as potential energy. We call these forces conservative forces.

4.) Not all forces are conservative. Friction does not store the work you do against it, it dissipates it (as heat.)
