It took him a while to understand her complexities – that some days all was smooth and she operated like a well oiled machine. He learned to compensate for the days when the gears just jammed and he tried to be patient when the wheels locked…

[...] "While information always creates connections, some types of information—from scientific publications to political speeches—can attempt to establish this connection through an accurate representation of certain aspects of reality. However, this requires a special effort that information itself does not make. Therefore, the naive understanding of information is mistaken when it assumes that more powerful information technology automatically leads to a more truthful understanding of the world. If no additional measures are taken to shift the balance in favor of truth, an increase and acceleration of information will only ensure that the relatively rare and costly truthful representations disappear under the swelling flood of inferior information." Understanding and love is all that a special dog like Lucy requires. Everything was out of it's usual place because we had started painting, but she regained her confidence and all was well again.

Finally visited Death Valley over the holidays, and, as always when visiting a new-to-me National Park, I left a little piece of my soul, there. Death Valley is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I thought I was prepared. I thought it would be similar to other long awaited first visits to other national parks where the experience feels familiar and welcoming, as if you are stepping into a book that you’ve read for a very long time. Death Valley did not do this to me. No book can prepare you for Death Valley. The only way to become acquainted with the inconceivable vastness of the valley and sand and salt that’s only defined by towering walls of stony mountains is to be immersed in it. Death Valley is a challenge. It is a challenge to understand and experience and exist in. To be here is to be immersed in a forbidding environment and accept that this miraculous landscape is not for the faint of heart. I’ll be back, Death Valley. We have more work to do.

Second Coming of Jesus | "When It Comes to God, What Is Your Understanding"

www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/utterance-when-it-comes-t...

Introduction

Almighty God says, "The so-called God is not only the Holy Spirit, that Spirit, the sevenfold intensified Spirit, the all-encompassing Spirit, but also a person, an ordinary person, an exceptionally common person. He is not only male, but also female. They are similar in that They are both born to humans, and dissimilar in that one is conceived by the Holy Spirit and the other is born to a human but derived directly from the Spirit. They are similar in that both incarnate fleshes of God carry out God the Father’s work, and dissimilar in that one does the work of redemption and the other does the work of conquering. Both represent God the Father, but one is the Lord of redemption filled with lovingkindness and mercy, and the other is the God of righteousness filled with wrath and judgment. One is the Supreme Commander to launch the redemption work, and the other is the righteous God to accomplish the work of conquering. One is the Beginning, the other the End. One is sinless flesh, the other is flesh that completes the redemption, continues the work, and is never of sin. Both are the same Spirit, but They dwell in different fleshes and are born in different places. And They are separated by several thousand years. Yet all Their work is mutually complementary, never conflictual, and can be spoken of in the same breath. Both are people, but one is a baby boy and the other is an infant girl."

'Peace through Understanding', the theme of the World's Fair in 1964-1965. And yes, it is still quite appropriate at the current situation here.

The Unisphere is a spherical stainless steel representation of the Earth, located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in the borough of Queens, New York City. The sphere, which measures 140 feet (43 m) high and 120 feet (37 m) in diameter, was commissioned as part of the 1964 New York World's Fair. The Unisphere is one of the borough's most iconic and enduring symbols.

Commissioned to celebrate the beginning of the space age, the Unisphere was conceived and constructed as the theme symbol of the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair. The theme of the World's Fair was "Peace Through Understanding" and the Unisphere represented the theme of global interdependence. It was dedicated to "Man's Achievements on a Shrinking Globe in an Expanding Universe".

"(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" is a 1974 song written by English singer/songwriter Nick Lowe. Initially released by Lowe in 1974, the song did not chart. The song was most famously covered by Elvis Costello & the Attractions and released as a B-side to Lowe's 1978 solo single "American Squirm." The cover saw great popularity and was later included on the American version of Costello's 1979 album Armed Forces. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/(What%27s_So_Funny_%27Bout)_Peace,_Love,_and_Understanding

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do and He will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6

My understanding with Buddhist teachings is that all the pleasures, happiness, well-beings, fortune, good health etc are all illusionary and temporal in life. They are just like bokeh and you would not be grabbing it tightly.

So Buddha is teaching us to understand the fact and to get rid of the desire or greed in getting more of those well-beings. The greed is just the source of your pain in life.

However I did see a lot of people saying prayers and burning the incense in Buddhist Temple. They plead for good health, fortune or all kinds of well-beings in the prayers. I over-heard it when I took this shot.

Is this a very strange thing and it contradicts the Buddhist teaching?

Have a great Thursday free of all desires!

May 2017 bring more peace, truth and mutual understanding to all! And lots of smiles :)

The sun shines through the leaves and branches of a Chinese Banyan tree at the Punch Bowl Cemetery, Honolulu, Hawaii.

The camera saw the branches as black silhouettes and the sky as white. The wide dynamic range of the raw file enabled lightening of the shadows and darkening the highlights in LR to visualize blue in the sky and detail in the bark of the tree.

Understanding that even as Spring comes closer certain obstacles may be met which, ascribing to the words of the title song which marked every grammar school's graduation ceremony in my day, must be overcome regardless how daunting. Here we have a familiar figure eyeing up the challenge before meeting it head on and, as shown in the comment photos, valiantly vanquishing it...though not without some initial reluctance. Intrepid indeed...

Bear cub is learning to walk. Actually, its just trying to get better understanding about its surroundings.

*Not the brand or technique is important in photographic art, but the understanding of the things behind the photographed subjects, the emotion, the composition, the joy or the sadness, the life itself that is mysteriously coming unrepeatable as a gift.

(Horia Stanicel)

* I have seen a large part of the most popular or devoted photographers' photographs over time and of course I can say that most of them have speculated on different situations, angles of photography, shadows, different brightness, feelings, human tragedies, all kinds of paradoxical situations that of course make them noticed. I do not want to bring any name into question for the simple reason that each photographic artist has a unique value. However, I regard the photographic art as a simple spectator that is difficult to be convince most of the times. I contemplate the creation of God and every time I photograph I do not forget how grateful we should be for all the beauty that our Creator gave it to us! People who forget this do nothing but hate themselves and the world they live in and photography is nothing but a mirror of this beautiful or crooked world.(Horia Stanicel)

lack of understanding breeds hatred of other people... we should try to tune-in... my travel diary, with musical innuendos by Björk and Mily A. Balakirev.

Basilica of Saint Nicholas, Amsterdam

I am dedicating this image to all my Flickr friends.

To those of you who know that we have been downsizing our company, thanks for understanding about my lack of consistency in visits to your photostream. And to those of you who wondered why I haven't been around, now you know.

We have had our theatre and props company for nearly 30 years, and my husband and I finally decided that enough was enough. So, we gave away all of my beloved props to a local church. Well, almost all, as I simply couldn't part with a few things like my knights in armor. Today the church will pick up the costumes, too.

It's been a hard run, but it's nearly over. (See the comment image.) By Monday, I will make up for my lack of attention to your images. I promise.

Iin the meantime, will you bear with me just a couple more days?

Please accept my sincerest thanks for your kind visits and comments. I want you to know that I would never take advantage of you.

Besides, I would much rather be playing with my friends on Flickr, and taking pictures than cleaning a stupid warehouse.

Will Monday ever come?

“In order to understand the world, one has to turn away from it on occasion." Albert Camus.

For me, that means grabbing my camera, my better half, and getting away from the crowds. Haven't quite got to the point where I understand it all, though - including why Flickr introduced color banding in the sky of this image. Couldn't see it in the original.
