So you don't always go to this room in the house for photo inspiration, but just to prove that you can find beauty in the most unusual places, this weeks photo subject is toilet paper. I think it has a kind of abstract beauty to it, maybe???

The family of Swans with seven Cygnets have gone their separate ways. This is the last of the brood, who went on it's own way a few days ago. not quite with all white feathers yet. The parents are now starting to build a nest - fingers crossed they are as successful this year!

This is the point in a ducks life where he is not the cute little duckling, but not a full fledge adult. He really doesn't fit in with either group. Kind of like human teenagers.

Based off of the story, The Ugly Duckling, in the book "Women Who Run With The Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. As we come into our "own way" we may feel alienated or exiled, never fitting in. But one day, when we have developed into the people we are meant to be, we will find that group, our pack or flock where we feel accepted and loved.
Well, it's an ugly flamingo chick actually, but I think the following song still applies

The word "swan" is derived from Old English swan, akin to the German Schwan and Dutch zwaan, in turn derived from Indo-European root swen (to sound, to sing), whence Latin derives sonus (sound). Young swans are known as cygnets, from the Latin word for swan, cygnus. An adult male is a cob, from Middle English cobbe (leader of a group); an adult female is a pen from the Welsh word for loud, pynne.

There once was an ugly duckling!
A cygnet on Cyfartha Park Lake Merthyr, probably about 6 weeks old copying its mother
The redhead duck is a strange looking fellow. This was shot at one of the local ponds on the west coast of Florida.
Central Park's Hans Christian Andersen statue was erected in 1956 to commemorate the author's 150th birthday. This tribute to the Danish poet, novelist, and children's author, was made possible because of a large donation by the Danish American Women's Association.
The large, bronze statue depicts Andersen seated upon a granite bench, reading from his book The Ugly Duckling. Sculpted by Georg John Lober, this children's statue is meant to be climbed on and is a popular attraction for kids. Part of the reason for its popularity is the afternoon storytelling that takes place during the summer months at the foot of the statue. Young children are treated to readings of Andersen's well-known tales, such as The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina, The Little Match Girl and The Ugly Duckling.
