Muscovy duckling with a big dose of cuteness.

"All through the wintertime he hid himself away

Ashamed to show his face, afraid of what others might say

All through the winter in his lonely clump of wheat

Till a flock of swans spied him there and very soon agreed

You’re a very fine swan indeed!

A swan? Me a swan? Ah, go on!

And he said yes, you’re a swan

Take a look at yourself in the lake and you’ll see

And he looked, and he saw, and he said

I am a swan! Wheeeeeeee!

I’m not such an ugly duckling

No feathers all stubby and brown

For in fact these birds in so many words said

The best in town, the best, the best

The best in town

Not a quack, not a quack, not a waddle or a quack

But a glide and a whistle and a snowy white back

And a head so noble and high

Say who’s an ugly duckling?

Not I!

Not I! "

Muscovy duck with an unusual pattern.

The first of many holiday-ish pictures that I took last weekend. Happy Wednesday.

Better on Black

This little duckling grows up to be the head duck of the now famous duck religious organization know as the Quackers.

Ok they are chicks, but there's always one in the family, can you spot him?

He probably feels like I did in my childhood :(

Yesterday, I started the Easter holiday with a walk to Newstead Abbey and the lovely weather caught me out as I left my Olympus at home. However, on a day like this the iPhone does well with the light and here are 7 pictures taken on the walk.

Muscovy ducks start out cute but then they get hit with the ugly stick and get all those growths on their faces.

The Hans Christian Andersen house and museum in Odense, Denmark, is a wonderful place to learn more about the writer of the Little Mermaid, Ugly Ducking and many more fairy tales!

The ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan...:))

Little duckling in the grass.

This morning there was a repeat of yesterday's race down the moat with all eight cygnets taking to the air. The one sitting at the back was going to end up being called an ugly duckling!

Yes, this is a healthy muscovy duck.

When I showed the grey 2CV yesterday, Jan said that he liked the colourful white/red variant better, because it reminds him of the 2cv in his youth, where those were student cars, DIY repaired with parts from the scrapyard.

I've altered the white one to fit his description, and even the sun came out to let me take some nice pictures.

If you look closely, you might even recognise the driver.

Toy Project Day 2270

Two cute, fluffy (and ugly?) young swans seen in Landsmeer, The Netherlands.

This photo was taken using an M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro lens and MC14 1.4x teleconverter (@105mm). I would rather have used a different lens for this occasion, but then the opportunity would have been lost.

See where this photo was taken.

Muscovy duck in all his glory.

I have been a fan of the 2CV and its derivatives from a very young age. I have owned several. They're great to drive.
