These 2 (Korean?) girls were actually included in the shot unexpectedly. They seemed to be visitors to Hong Kong and hung around 1881 Heritage that night. They were so charming and cheerful that inspired me a lot. I was really surprised when I processed this photo and found them inside.

DB Cargo's Grand Central-liveried Class 90, 90026, returns to Alstom's Widnes Transport Technology Centre to resume testing with the Mk4 sets being refurbished there for GC.

90026 had been at Crewe ETD for an A Exam and was accompanied on 0Z90 to Widnes by Class 67, 67015, The 67 was then used by the DB crew as their taxi back to base.

The Skip drew the pair out of the ETD and through the station to Crewe L&NWR to change ends, prior to heading north to Widnes with the Skoda leading. The pair are captured here at Coppenhall just north of Crewe.

Saddleworth Moor is such a wild and beautiful place. The Moors Murders and countless newspaper articles have for years cast a dark shadow over it, portraying it as a bleak and barren nightmare. However, it is littered with history and folklore and has some of the most wonderful views.

This view is from near the summit of Alderman's Hill looking across Greenfield to Alphin Pike. Folklore tells the tale of two giants, Alphin and Alder who lived on their respective hills. Both sought the affections of Rimmon, a water nymph who lived in the waters of Chew Beck below. Rimmon chose Alphin, which infuriated Alder and the two giants fought, hurling rocks at each other until Alphin was struck and killed. In her grief, Rimmon cast herself from rocks into the valley below and joined Alphin in death.

There is a strong likelihood that this tale is the mythologisation of a Dark Ages battle that could well have taken place here, between the advancing Angles of Northumbria and the Celts of Southern Rheged. Anyone familiar with the tale of the battle of Win Hill, will remember that in c.626AD, the Northumbians defeated the Mercians by rolling boulders down the hillside. The Northumbians had taken Elmet (modern day West Yorkshire) in the early part of the 7th C and advanced on Rheged, which itself fell sometime before 730AD. There are a number of pointers in the landscape to this area being an ancient boarder and even the place names leave clues. Alder being of German origin, Al being a Celtic word for a rock or a hill.

“The 206” can mean two very different things at Robertson Buses – it either refers to a bus route that goes to Long Eaton, or a decidedly dubious LHD Peugeot 206 staff car, which in this photo can be seen lurking behind the identically numbered bus service.

The connection between the two here is RB’s resident bus painter Mr Bitt, who bought the car while on holiday and then sold it to the company, and whose catchphrase is “I’ll do it in a Bitt” because he mainly sits around and rarely paints anything. That’s why everything around here gets painted at a snail’s pace, and 38 (among others) is still in its dishevelled as-acquired livery.

Route 206 was introduced in mid-2023, running between Nottingham and Long Eaton every 30 minutes using three buses. However, the Robertson Buses commitment is only two because the 3rd duty is covered by Smith’s of Nottingham and the route is operated jointly. It has the novel aspect of running out past Nottingham station and The Meadows, and cutting through Thane Road to get to Beeston.

Like the 204 as mentioned a few uploads ago, the recent gas works around Beeston affected the 206 because its usual route along Chilwell Road was closed, and it had to divert via Queens Road. Delays getting out of Beeston through the bottleneck of Station Road meant Beeston Interchange had to be temporarily cut from the route for timekeeping – since the diversion meant a double run through the most congested section.

City-bound buses also cut out the short section of High Road they technically could have still served in favour of remaining on Queens Road, to save time. This diversion lasted the full length of the road closure, including the later half-closure which allowed outbound buses to return their normal route, with the double-run reinstated at Station Road so the city-bound buses could serve the interchange again. It was crazy.

Ignazzoid and his news cyborg girlfriend had been a couple for some time now, Ignazzoid was a Insecotoid (according to capital-planet ethnic statistics) or as his species would like to call themselves Bzzz--ZZ--sschss or as the ethnic slur would have it a: Buzzer...

...anyhow because of various biological reasons they were a childless couple... they were poor and lived in a shack down the lover levels, they ran a small business selling rinsed ad recycled technology they found in the suers...

one day they found a bag of credits which a one-in-a-million lucky shot...

they decided to pay there rent to the N´nugulian mafia for two years in advance,,,

they still had some money left so Ignazzoid said to his partner:

- Hey Rivetta, what do you say, I mean we have been together for quite a while now but never had a day out drinking and dancing...

Rivetta said: Yes Darling, a romantic day out just relaxing drinking to our stupor and dance and drink and puke and then dance and puke some more and talk to people other than our costumers! Oh Darling we are gonna have so much fun...

So the couple did as they said and took their first day ever off collecting tech from the stinking underground suer mega-pipes stuffed with the higher levels waste products...

They bought perfume by a local dealer and two 5 liter containers of moonshine from the same sleazy mutant dealer...

...as they said: the perfume is needed to disguise our foul stench from working in the suers and loads of moonshine is needed to intoxicate Rivetta´s cybernetic body and the alien gut of Ignazzoid that is highly resistant to any form of human toxins... leisure one even so!

...after dancing to an old vintage tune they had found on an old mp3 stick from the happy double zeros, the only music they had they said:

Now, now it is gonna happen, we are drunk we are happy and in the mood, lets go out and let our bionic legs work that dance floor...

The knew a illegal disco close by know as the Noise-maze the played noise from electronic noise bands from vintage times like, T-stallion, Nurse with wound and Marlene Diedrich and so one...

when they had stood in queue the for two hours they reached the anti-sound-wall and the entrance the bouncer said:

- Organics only and pointed to their bodies!

Rivetta replied:

But my head and brain is organic and that is what counts isn´t it?

...and when it come to my beloved hubby his species all have bionic lower parts, since they are born without limbs or any other natural way to move about, that is why they fuse them with bot-bodies at birth...

- Eh well, you lady your head is allowed inside, just leave your body int the wardrobe with your bag and other belongings... and you alien guy if your are fused with that exo-body I cannot allow you in...

..they both left in anger...

...then they had an idea: there is an illegal droid-noise-bar next to suer-pipe 2323999b in sector five since the organics won´t have them why not get friendly with the artificials, they had many bot costumers and they were all friendly and polite...

...so on towards the Disco called Drone astro floor...

ok, there was a queue there too...

so 2 hour later they reached the two bouncer-droids...

One had hooks for hands the other one a huge squid-like chunk of a bot...

the big one looked at the couple from top to toe then his optic-sensors rolled around behind his screen as if he did some kind of thinking with really huge and heavy piece of programing... then it said:

- Beep, Beep, calculation and bioscan done: result: Body of female can enter, but fused insectoid-borg cannot, since he is fused with the organic tissues...

Then Ignazzoid said: oh please not again, we just want to have fun, I mean look at us over 50% of our bodies are mech´s no one would tell us apart from a droid, please or if not, please just turn of the anti-sound-wall for an hour, we can dance outside here, and hey look at that Cyber-saur over there it must have a ton of organic tissue on it... much more than the few kilos we possess!

The Huge robot looked towards the hooked one and said:

- Hooker, Tell Them: rules: facts: please/thanks!

The other tinier and more human speaking robot named hooker replied:

- well, that cyber-saur is just parked here by his owner who is a bot... and sure we could probably let you in but if we start gnawing away at the rules, we would loose costumers, I mean what bot would come to a place when all it wants is to get away from their organic master for a brief moment, ...and I mean what would happen if they came here and the place would be full of organics, I mean that would be no relaxation at all...

the big robot agreed by saying:

- Beep, Beep, Hooker: Right! but Beep, Offer we can Make: 50 Kreds!

The smaller bot translated his bouncer-bot friend:

- Yeah well Octo says that for 1 minute we can deactivate the anti-sound-wall so you can dance outside, we can hmm, blame it on a temporary glitch, 50 kredit Please!!!

so the couple payed the bots, but non of them felt like dancing any longer, the listened to the noise, but what hurt them the most was that behind the noise the could hear bots enjoying themselves talking, laughing and chatting...

Then they went home and slept and the next day they went to work filtering the pooh and pee of the upper levels with a huge hangover... and both kind of wishing they wouldn´t find another valuable treasure!!!

There are basically two types of people. People who accomplish things, and people who claim to have accomplished things. The first group is less crowded.

While many in the US are digging out from snow, here in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, we are wearing short sleeve shirts and enjoying things like what this picture shows. This was taken in Wickenburg, Arizona on February 13, 2015.

On the 21st May 2023 the 'Wesertal' (2004, 3,789DWT) arrived at Teignmouth from Goole to load ball clay for Casablanca. She was followed in by the 'Marry-S' (1997, 3,471DWT) with agricultural products from Klaipeda. Two ships I haven't photographed before and at Teignmouth.

I don't do portraits often, but I have a few from my last trip to Ethiopia that I like. I uploaded the first version - where the woman on the right is hiding her face - a while ago, but never got around to posting the one where she finally faced the camera. This was the fist time she had her picture taken (actually not just her, other women in this group too) and afterward we spent a long time looking at all the pictures on camera screen, zooming in and out and in again. And they laughed a lot. I wish I could print it right there and leave with them, but it was not an option.

The first version is in the comments.

Neither E8A locomotives or steam locomotives are common sights on the railroads anymore, but for one moment they shared the spotlight in Hubbard, Ohio, as the excursion train on the left passed the steamer on static display. I don't know the background or heritage of the steam engine.
