If you've had a stressful week, a difficult journey home, or just need to relax, you might like this little two minute clip of nothing but nature. I took it on my walk to see the kingfishers today (pictures to follow) at Ardingly reservoir. If you listen carefully you might hear the bees on the bluebells and if you look even more closely you might spot the mayflies, which were out in profusion. Two colour hibiscus.
Shot hand-held with the Sony NEX7 and the SEL35 1.8. This compact APS-C lens is very sharp, offers a pleasing bokeh and focuses close. A desirable lens, my opinion.
My back garden is not hibiscus friendly, but we soldier on every year, replacing the dead plants with eternal optimism. This year, the flowers surprise us by being multi tone -- in years past, we'd see yellow or fuscia, but never a combination.

Two moths on a wall. The white is the lovely white palpita moth (a crambid). Itchydogimages tells me that the other is a Glyphodes canthusalis (a pyraloid). Each of them is around 2 cms across, perhaps slightly larger. The tiny third insect could be a fly.

Two guilty pleasure flavors!
One of the things I like about traveling over to the Oregon and Washington coasts are the various little stores with different selections. I found these at the small store that doubles as the office for the Skamokawa resort we recently stayed at on Washington side of the Columbia River.
