You know, a certain hubby of mine used to complain that his socks wouldn't stay up. And he always had to buy over the calf athletic socks to keep that from happening....but I believe I've found a better solution. 😘
Now a flower box but once the genesis of a small business. Not only the cab but the entire dump bed is full of flowers. While I normally love flowers, they couldn’t hold a candle to this classic in my eyes. I believe this to be a 1937, 1 1/2 ton truck based on the grill design.

Kingdom: Plantae

(unranked): Eudicots
(unranked): Rosids
Order: Brassicales
Family: Tropaeolaceae
Genus: Tropaeolum
Nasturtium (literally "nose-twister" or "nose-tweaker"), as a common name, refers to a genus of roughly 80 species of annual and perennial herbaceous flowering plants in the genus Tropaeolum ("Trophy"), one of three genera in the family Tropaeolaceae. It should not be confused with the Watercresses of the genus Nasturtium, of the Mustard family. This genus, native to South and Central America, includes several very popular garden plants, the most commonly grown being T. majus, T. peregrinum and T. speciosum. The hardiest species is T. polyphyllum from Chile, the perennial roots of which can survive underground when air temperatures drop as low as -15°C (5°F).
They have showy, often intensely bright flowers (the intense color can make macrophotography quite difficult), and rounded, peltate (shield-shaped) leaves with the petiole in the center. The flowers have five petals (sometimes more), a three-carpelled ovary, and a funnel-shaped nectar tube in the back.
Tropaeolum species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Dot Moth and Garden Carpet. A very common "pest" found on Nasturtium in particular is the caterpillar of the Large White (Cabbage White) Butterfly.
The Nasturtiums receive their name from the fact that they produce an oil that is similar to that produced by Watercress (Nasturtium officinale), from the family Brassicaceae.

I've still got a couple more strangers shots to post from Venice, but thought I'd mix things up a little. The project is already overwhelming my Photostream!
Here's a quick long exposure from last night, out on Peverill Point in Dorset. I used a flashlight/torch to paint in the seaweed and spray - it could certainly be more even, but I only got one go before the sea reclaimed my vantage point.
The light from the left is a mix of blue hour and Bournemouth's light pollution. The shots that followed were a little too orange from sodium vapour lighting.
UPDATE 2: (!) Still not quite happy with the banding, I switched to a SOOC version of the sky. From my monitor that leaves just one patch of banding at the top of the screen. That's uploading to Flickr as a 11.8Mb file without any tweaks - no noise reduction, no WB, no sharpening, etc. I turned everything off. It's better but still not perfect! Shot at ISO on the 5D MKiii so, really shouldn't have an issue, but there we go.
UPDATE: This is my second upload of this shot. The compression on uploading the first brought out a lot of banding, that was unapparent in the Lightroom version. I get a lot of issues uploading skies, and note contacts saying the same thing, so hope it's an issue the magic donkey is working on. I added 2% noise and a brush>splatter filter to the sky in an attempt to protect it this time round. It looks fine on iPad, but if I lower my head on the desktop monitor it still looks a little harsh. Commentary on this front would be hugely appreciated.
Hope everyone is having a great Easter!
Pardon the whorish pose. I was finally in the mood to read when I got distracted with the lamp. I thought the lighting was lovely that I decided to stop what I was doing and (what else?) pose! HE HE
"what does that mean?" "What is a Brickhouse Model?" "How do I become a Brickhouse Angel, or Elite?" "Uhhh... Beautifuk? Thank you...what is Beautifuk? lol"
In the year and more since I started Flickr Photography and Modeling, and even more so after I took the Brickhouse nickname given me and made it a group concept... I get alot of questions about it. Some controversy in what I do and don't celebrate or allow as photo material, and more, simple questions about my look and my avatar, by very sweet admirers who ask for tips.
I've never gotten alot of favs... I've yet to break 200 that's ok, I put out photos of me for me, and what I like, and the same goes for my groups, Brickhouse... because now that is my true passion... taking photos of others like me, and posting them, and sharing what they post.
As indicated, Brickhouse started as a nickname, or stage name, back when I was dancing at clubs and Bachelor parties; Dj's started play Rob Zombie's version of the song when I'd come onstage and it grew from there. When I decided to make a group in Flickr, mostly to show off the many wonderful photos I saw others doing, it seemed a natural thing for me to name it "Brickhouse Avatars", because that is the kind of group I wanted... to celebrate not clothing, not romance, and certainly not porn. Just beautiful photos of jaw dropping avatars, men and women alike.
Before long I realized two things quickly; others liked it, and wanted to be members, and wanted to show off their own works in it. Not everyone who joined are what I would call Brickhouse personally...but that's ok... Beauty comes in all forms, Brickhouse is one of these, rather than the other way around, and if they wanna celebrate their own form of it, I'll enjoy it along with the rest :)
I added a second group, Brickhouse Elite, and kept it Invitation only, and choose photos myself from the main group to add to it. In this way, I can let members decide what they feel is right for the main group, and still celebrate my own interpretations.
So, what is Brickhouse?
Brickhouse is most definitely a select window into 'What is Beauty' or 'what is sexy'. This most certainly means not everything beautiful is Brickhouse -- and Brickhouse is equally certain not to be beautiful or even sexy by everyone's standards. In the photo above, I put some things related to what I consider Brickhouse, and use my avatar as the basis, with some catch phrases that have come along, and a few sticky noted, numbered and explained below... hopefully this will answer some of those questions, as well as explain why my rules choose to exclude some thing I do not consider right for it :)
1. Poses and settings
"All witchcraft comes from carnal lust, which is in women, insatiable."

I'm not a photographer. I'm a graphic designer and model who does some photography of my own. Those are my strengths, in my own opinion, where this is concerned; making a desirable avatar, and modeling her for those who find her desirable. When I DO make photos, I choose poses that exemplify this, and photos that are often simple in nature, with alot of close-ups that celebrate the avatar rather than a setting.
2. The Look
"Tina Turner is someone that I admire, because she made her strength feminine and sexy. Marilyn Monroe, because she was a curvy woman. I'm drawn to things that have the same kind of silhouettes as what she wore because our bodies are similar."
~ Beyonce Knowles
Brickhouse is by no means meant to be 'realistic'... and not really even 'beautiful'. It's meant to be desirable, objectified, and lusted for. This is one reason I can include gorgeous men as well as woman... and also why I exclude some things like under or over developed attributes or gender bending... to avoid stepping too far away from things like "perfection", "Masculinity" or "Femininity". Brickhouse is sensuality and sexuality of the mind as well as body and soul, and that reflects how I built my own avatar and how I dress her... whether it's on a beach, in a club, roleplaying, and /or just being who I am.
3. The Body
"The android was designed as a sex doll, and therefore she was made into the perfect personification of feminine perfection... and then we added a few cup sizes to her breasts, and made her hips rounder and fuller, with a luscious, yet firm backside. Because men do not want perfection... they want better than perfection, and their hormones and eyesight is therefore wired this way..."
Author Piers Anthony, the Apprentic Adept Series
Heh, yes. The Brickhouse body is all about that... a fuller figure than 'perfection', with juicy and over developed (in some people's opinions) attributes, while still maintaining a gyminist or fitness perfection of tone and firmness. Not possible? Pssst, I don't care... This isn't the Real World, this is Brickhouse.
4. Those big bodacious bewbs
"Big, beautiful tits. Because you can't suck on a personality."
~ One of a gabillion memes celebrating big boobs
I've had so many people tell me they think my breasts are too big... they literally come from nowhere when I'm at Surfer's or shopping.. it always makes me laugh.
Why? because for every person who questions it, I have 50 who tell me how great they are... that's why. So suck it :D
I don't pay alot of attention to favs, I mentioned before... but I do notice what is faved. TC Tackleberry and I have talked about this... we are almost identical in shape, but she gets more ass favs and I get more boob favs... so there's no magic and no science... but I'll keep with what I have, tyvm... and Brickhouse will remain a home for the beautifully bodacious ^^
5. Dat Ass!
"Being a badass is fun, but having a great ass is better!"
~ Yet another choice from a gabillion memes on the topic
a lot of femininity comes from various aspects of our personality, our clothing styles, and even other objectified aspects such as eyes, breasts and hair. But ask most men what their eyes stay with the longest, and chances are, it's a great ass.
I've spent alot of time perfecting mine to what I want it to be... nips and tucks and tweaks and shimmies... everything from my shape to my skin to my clothing choice to my ao, and a few enhancers on top of that. I'm happy with it, and Brickhouse is definitely inclusive when it comes to objectifying a great base :)
6. The Face
"We can assume that Helen of Troy probably had many aspects of beauty... but history has reason to call her "The face that launched a thousand ships..."
As much as I love a gorgeous body on my avatar, it's a truth that I initially spent the majority of time creating the face as well. To me, the face of your avatar is really and ultimately who you are. I choose to exemplify as Brickhouse those who spend as much time and detail on beautiful faces, with amazing eyes, kissable, pouty lips, and yes, a glossy, glorious head of hair.
My obsession with Talena's face possible went into overdrive; I literally took Fantamorph, a photo morphing software, and morphed aspects from my favorite celebrities:
Eyes:
Angelina Jolie
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Amber Heard
Gigi Hadid
Mila Kunis
Adriana Lima
Charlize Theron
Megan Fox
Catherine Zeta Jones
Kim Kardashian
Nose:
Jessica Alba
Blake Lively
Emma Watson
Meghan Markle
Zhang Ziyi
Kim Kardashian
Natalie Portman
Scarlett Johansson
Lips
Angelina Jolie
Kristin Davis
Drew Barrymore
Liv Tyler
Scarlett Johansson
Elizabeth Taylor
Jessica Alba
Ava Gardner
I then took the final result, and morphed it with Kim Kardashian, J-Lo, and Salma Hayek, my favorite Latinas, went dark eyed, and boom...that's the face of Talena :)
7. The Hair
A woman's hair is her true crown of beauty, and with it, she is a queen at all times."
~ Oribe Canales
I believe that quote, and I try to find hair that emulates those celebrities that have the hair I love best; Kim and Kylie, Priyanka Chopra, and Abigail Ratchford.
Hairstyles definatly play a part in what is Brickhouse.
8. Legs and Height
Short legs can be cute and sexy, but long legs give the best views for what you're reaching for...
~ Tall Girls Ad
If there was anything I would change about myself, it would probably be that I'm fated to be an amazon; Photos and trial and error have convinced me that no matter how often I've made myself shorter, I'll always go back. So be it, I'm tall :)
Fortunately, this is NOT a requirement of Brickhouse, for I have seen many of the Brickhouse best beauties who's successfully bridged the gap, and I will celebrate them always.
9. Catch Phrases and their meanings/origins
WWTD
'What Would Talena Do?' came about when I took a stab at some clothing designs to celebrate the name and trademarks. I wanted a simple phrase for the back of the undies that went with the shorts I made, and WWTD seemed the funnest that would fit...and wasn;t overly used like 'Daddy's Girl" and a host of others... I could call it Mine and Brickhouse's.
Brickhouse Goddess
This "title" given me is actually a combination of things. Brickhouse Elite and Brickhouse Angel were tags made for those who'd risen to those levels, so Darian suggested Brickhouse Goddess as my own title as Group Admin, since more than a few admirers were tagging me "The Goddess of Lust and Desire". I'm extremely grateful for those who have said so, and I hope this title is a good way to show it.
This Is How You Brickhouse
This came about during the WildBrick Event, when I wanted something to headline my booth and the ads I was creating for it. Eventually it became the tagline and pictorial series of Brickhouse Elite I'd been creating, which Darian, when he ran Brickhouse for awhile, took and revamped in his series of "Brickhouse Angels"...which happily, he still does today :)
It's Brickhouse, Bitch!
Yeah, I swiped it shamelessly from Britney :) The full phrase is actually "It's Brickhouse, Bitch, not Whorehouse!" and came about when I found that some of the guys who were joining Brickhouse were doing so purely to find and add models to their "Porn harms"... where they do not credit the models in their photos out of fear of losing them to other, probably better photographers. I was disgusted to see this happening, and made a statement...the statement has stuck, thankfully :)
Bueatifuk
This is most definatly my favorite catchphrase for Brickhouse girls ^^ It came about when a friend shouted "Talena, you're so Beautifuk!" -- obviously a typo, since "K" and "L" sit right next to eachother. Knowing this, but teasingly, I shouted back "What the hell is Beautifuk??" and without missing a beat, she hollered "Beauiful AND Fuckable!"
I decided this was the best description of Brickhouse I'd heard stated in a single word... and that's what it is today: Brickhouse is Beautifuk!
The Brickhouse Logo
- A kiss, because that is sexier than a heart, which is why I use it alot in comments and attached to my name :)
- My Silhouette, because that's where Brickhouse got it's start
- Brickhouse styled letting, which is my trademark for my store, these groups, and also Darian's Brickhousae Magazine.
Brickhouse models and photographers I admire most:
- Davina Constantine, my partner in crime along with Darian, and his amazingly gorgeous wife. A Brickhouse Angel with the biggest heart in the midwest, and a savvy and admired photographer in her own right :)
- Moxxie Korinakova, one of my very first Flickr Idols, right up to present, and a founding member of Brickhouse
- TC Tackleberry, My other major Flickr Idol, definately my BBF, and amazing goddess of a Brickhouse Angel
- Kimori Korro Purely amazing Brickhouse Angel, and blond bombshell bimbo with a brain, an early idol, and sweetest girl ever!
- Chrissy Firebrand , a jaw dropping beauty, my favorite sexbomb, and Brickhouse Angel whose devotion to us has always amazed and gratified me :)
- Lara Sands Dieterie ...omg I just love this girl :) My and TC's Love Child, a bouncy beauty and Brickhouse Angel you love the moment you see her!
- ಌiʆy βɑʀtɦɛʆɱɛรร♡ , a purely Limitless goddess whose mind is as beautiful as her Brickhouse avatar, and whose skills as a photographer are breathtaking! I still hope to see her made a Brickhouse Angel ;)
- ӇЄℒℒ ҠąϮϮ , Another hopeful Brickhouse Angel, music lover and glorious photographer... she exemplifies Brickhouse hardly without trying, and I simply love her work :)
- Keanna Appletor . Remember when I said not all that is Brickhouse are amazons? Keanna is pure sex kitten and beauty all in one, a sweet and intelligent girl, and a fab photographer whose work I always love to see :)
- Lita Alexander-Masterson , another bodacious beauty, and a Brickhouse Angel... Lita is helpful and loyal in all she does, always ready to be there when we need her, and her photography is amazing!
- Colette Devin, a Brickhouse Angel whom god took, molded into a sexy dynamo, and added pure sweetness and sunshine :) Love her avatar, love her work, and love having her with us!
- Madison Resident, an incredibly beautiful and sexy goddess, a Brickhouse Angel, and extremely talented photographer. She amazes me with every single photo, and I love having her in Brickhouse as much as I love talking to her in world :)
I have been playing around with various software in order to try to get more realistic, vibrant fall images. I would be interested in your comments how the 3 images here compare. I took 5 raw images at different EV's in Aperture priority mode, with the camera on a tripod. The best exposed image was then processed with DXO5 then tweaked with lightroom (The top image), and with Lightroom alone (the middle image). For the bottom image, all 5 exposures were processed in the latest beta version of HDR Darkroom. I then tweaked the final image in Lightroom. View On Black
I am interested in which you like most/least and why. Thanks.
I changed the formula a bit and tweaked the color and lighting settings a good deal. Mot a totally new fractal, just a light tweak, but I do like the results. Thank you, Garth, for sharing the parameters.

Mr.PUU is the photographer who I truely respect from the bottom of my heart.
Check out his amazing series of works at PUU'S Gallery.
Too bad, he is still not a flicky yet....
*I played with the lens on this series of shots.....detached the lens from the body and used some "Manual Tilt/Shift" technic to tweak the Focal point.

This photo is for the Creative Black and White Class. I love to use Lightroom presets for weddings because they give the photos a unified look and are easy to batch edit. You can see that the original photos had a slight colorcast on the dress caused by the foliage (which is actually fairly easy to remove in LR), but since this was a vintage wedding, I wanted a more vintage look for the dress. I used a preset from a group of presets I got somewhere (?) called Bridal Bliss. The preset was 08 Heart. Then I brought it into Photoshop and tweaked it a bit with some adjustments.
Spotted this Crane Fly (Daddy Longlegs) on a window and just had to take a photo. lol
Tweaked and twiddled
Much better large please xx
Not a huge tweak today, but my "official" Alfred. None of the extra pieces that get a bit cumbersome, and a full head of hair.
Tomorrow: a purist custom I've not yet shown off!
A couple of days ago, on June 28th, I heard my wife call from the garden and I could tell from the tone of her voice that it was something that would interst me.
She turned out to be standing next to the water barrel where she had discovered somthing trying to swim.
This little something turned out to be this rust pine borer (Arhopalus rusticus). "Little" is actaully a bit of a misnomer - this is a species which is about 25 mm / 1" in length. I put down my finger next to it and it climbed on immediately.
But where to photograph it? My choice became the inflorescence on the purple angelica (Angelilca gigas) which was growing around the front of the house so I put it on one of those.
Now, the colour of the inflorescence here is pretty much what it looks like, but this took some quite heavy tweaking of the colours - straight out of the camera it is much brighter and more red (here is an old shot where I didn't fix the colour: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53569765545/).
There is actually a small chance that this could be the very similar burnt pine longhorn beetle (Arhopalus ferus), but that one is much much rarer thouh it has still been found in my region. The way to tell the difference is to look at the rearmost feet, but I had no idea to look there and none of the shots I took show those feet. It is probably A. rusticus though.
