I played around with this shot touching up textures and colors then added the frame for a perfect Sliders Sunday rest stop.
Not a war zone as in conflict but it is a war zone with economy. What was once a thriving granary for the county is now succumbed to farmlands being foreclosed and business going elsewhere.
This picture was a single raw tonemapped in Photomatix, and tweaked in Photoshop. Turned out fairly painterly I think. It was a pretty sunny day out so I had to use an ND as well as a CP filter to get the smooth flowing look.

While I am impressed by the additional mask capabilities of Lightroom I would say the Sky selection masking needs some work IMHO, on every image where I have used it has left a halo when I bring the image into Photoshop for final tweaking. Oct and early November are great times of the year to capture lake mist or more technically radiation fog, this occurs because the water has absorbed and retained the suns heat as air that has been cooled by the night temperatures that is moisture laden passes over warmer water of the lake. This scene is of my favorite places to welcome the morning and take in the light show as the sun rises at least when I don’t have a camera in hand and a cup of steaming coffee instead.
I took this on Oct 23rd, 2021 with my D850 and Tamron 15-30 f2.8 G2 Lens at 30mm, 1/5s, f8 ISO 64 processed in LR, PS +Topaz ,and DXO

......... The clarity and definition in this photo, are not as good as I would like them to be. But I thought some of my Flickr buddies would enjoy seeing it anyway.
I had to do more editing than usual to pull out what light and definition were available. I have a couple more images I may be able to tweak and post in a day or two.
Commentary below for those who like a back story.
This mamma and three cubbies showed up in the barnyard yesterday afternoon just about the same time as a sleet and wind storm. I managed to snap about 12 or 15 shots before the whole hilltop was enveloped in a huge steely gray cloud, accompanied by horizontal rain, sleet and wind gusts that flattened the standing hay and goldenrod stalks.
She came down out of the pinewoods and trotted through the barnyard urging the cubs along at a fairly brisk trot. But she stopped briefly to investigate a pile of apple peels I had tossed on the lawn after making apple butter. If it hadn't been for that little interlude, I don't think I would have managed to get a lens on her. As it was, the first several shots were through the window; Until I realized she was going to nose through the apple peels and I opened the porch door and stepped out..
She never did actually bolt and run ........... she left the cubs nose through the compost pile and then they slipped over the bank and down into the lower woods. ...... About half a minute later the cloud burst hit.
Heavy frost here recently. Another shot with off-camera flash. I like creating high contrast black and white shots of ferns as you concentrate on their shapes and textures. I process the raw file in DxO PhotoLab with my main concern to crush the blacks around the fern and remove any distracting elements then I use the FilmPack plugin, selecting a film look I think suits the image best and tweaking it from there.
This is a slight tweak of the very first fractal I ever rendered in Jux. I ran across it the other day and thought I would edit it a bit and reshare it. The orbit trap is new, of course, I do not think they existed when I bought the software. I did some cleanup on the lighting settings and a little to the other settings but not really much.
Ok, so I may have done a small amount of editting on this one too. Well I guess you'll agree, the original didn't quite cut the mustard.
An evening at the Fair with my 11 year-old who, terrifyingly, has developed a taste for REALLY scary rides. Not me, Gov; I'd rather stay on the ground and take pictures of the lights or try and capture some motion blur (though those didn't go quite so well...).
Safely back home: playing with what I hope is a slightly retro, vibrant look. I came to photography too late to truly appreciate the impact of the choice of film on a resulting image. This postprocessing alternative was created using a ColourEfex Film Efex #Kodachrome 64 filter, which i liked for the strong contrast and bright colours. Then, given a slight tweak in Topaz to make it feel a bit more vintagey. Possibly.
You may possibly need sunglasses. Or close your eyes a little....it's all blurry anyway.... :-)
