Built between 1898 and 1930 as a sanatorium for lung diseases, Beelitz-Heilstätten was one of the largest hospitals in and around Berlin. It served as a field hospital in the two world wars and was later the Soviets' major military hospital in East Germany. Abandoned in 1994 with the Russian withdrawal, most buildings have slowly fallen into ruins since. What a shame. We found this scene (probably staged by other photographers) in one of the kitchen buildings.

Step into the warm, well-worn kitchen of culinary legend Julia Child—just as she left it. This carefully preserved exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. captures the essence of a life devoted to food, flavor, and fearless experimentation.

More than just a set, this is the actual kitchen from Julia Child’s Cambridge, Massachusetts home, where she filmed three of her PBS television shows. The exhibit preserves over 1,200 original objects including her well-used copper pans, classic blue cabinetry, signature pegboards, and vintage cooking appliances. Every detail offers a window into Julia's exuberant spirit and practical creativity.

The Smithsonian display recreates the room exactly as it stood—down to the table settings and quirky wall art. Knives are lined up on a magnetic strip, pots hang in easy reach, and her famously towering presence is felt in the room’s custom-height counters. The open shelving and functional chaos reflect the working kitchen of a woman who revolutionized how America thought about cooking.

Visitors can peer into this space through glass, as if walking into a moment suspended in time. For fans of food, history, or television, it’s a meaningful pilgrimage spot.

Photographed with care to minimize reflections and glare, these images highlight the museum's immersive preservation work and the enduring legacy of one of America's most beloved cooks.

I know this isn't very original, I'm 100% sure I got the idea from surfing through flickr. I've seen it done several times and decided to give my hand at it. So here you have it: Mrs. TV Head!

I've been wanting to do a picture with me in a dress for awhile (like a sun dress lol) but I always wanted it to be white. I found this really pretty 50's dress on deviantart as stock that I plan on using some day soon. However, this picture didn't call for it.

I'm beginning to learn how to use stock images as opposed to brushes. I think the only thing on this is the sky/moon and the hat. Everything else is stock (or the picture of me with my socks).

I can't help but feel kinda bad that I'm taking a bunch of pieces and weaving them together (I ONLY take pictures that state they are free and takeable with credit--which I give). But I rationalize it and think "even the great Pareeerica takes other's items and weaves them together".

Besides, I only have 98 days left of doing this kind of stuff every day. I plan on keeping up with it as a side project.

TRF: I'm STILL waiting for that package that Clarissa sent me the day before my birthday. I have been waiting for nearly a month :'(

I sat on the sofa, switched the tv on – and now I have to decide what to watch.

This thing was pretty dirty when I found it, I think it cleaned up pretty good, and it even works!

I really like the design of the sides.

"Densha Otoko," which translates as "Train Man" is a Japanese TV drama that aired on Fuji TV last year. The room pictured above belonged to the show's protagonist. At the Fuji TV building on Odaiba in Tokyo, several of the sets from this show were displayed.

The King of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday XIII is now located in the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In a derelict theater in Potsdam we found a huge room, filled up with all sorts of junk. On a makeshift table there was this old portable TV-Set...

I was wondering what movies had been watched on this... maybe a classic like ghostbusters - one of the first movies I saw in a cinema (without parents) and which I still like very much...

I found this awesome image from Phillip Ritz of the building where the Ghostbusters central was shot - thanks for sharing this!

I am not sure if this TV-set already featured color but I thought a little color wouldn't hurt :)
