We’ve embarked upon a new project to produce a comprehensive tutorial on deep-sky imaging with DSLR cameras.
This past week we launched a new KickStarter campaign to fund the production of a new multi-hour video course on how to capture deep-sky objects using entry-level telescope gear and DSLR cameras.
For all the details see the KickStarter page at www.kickstarter.com/projects/58417101/deep-sky-with-your-...
The emphasis in the course will be on techniques for taking and processing publication-quality images as simply and easily as possible.
The final video course will consist of several programs, including a video of one of our annual “Deep-Sky with Your DSLR” workshops presented locally here in Alberta. We’ve often had requests for a video version of those workshops, for those who cannot attend in person.
This is it!
We include the Workshop video, but we supplement it with much more: with video segments shot in the field by day and by night, showing how to setup and use gear, and shot in the studio showing how to process images.
While much of the content has been shot and edited, there’s more to do yet. Thus our KickStarter campaign to complete the funding and production. Backers of the project through KickStarter will get the final videos at a substantial discount off the final retail price.
All the details are on the project’s KickStarter page at www.kickstarter.com/projects/58417101/deep-sky-with-your-...
Click through for the listing of course content, and options for funding levels. An FAQ page answers many of the common questions.
A week into the campaign and we’re almost 50% funded, but we have a way to go yet!
We hope you’ll consider backing our project, which we think will be unique on the market.
Clear skies!

So I finally got around to doing my Arm Swap tutorial. As you may or may not know I don't like the long arms on the pre-Club Birthday My Scene guys. So I'm going to show my method for swapping out the long arms with the shorter arms.
1. Here I have my arm swap candidates. Club Birthday River will be getting Fashionista Ken arms and Getting Ready River will inherit Club Birthday River's arms.
2. When you turn the arms palm-up you'll notice a little metal pin in the elbow. You're gonna wanna pop that baby out. You can use anything to do this. Just make sure it's something hard but small enough to fit inside the elbow hole.
3. Once the pin is out, the forearm will separate from the elbow joint.
4. Here are the short arms with the long arms. To reattach them, just put the forearm onto the elbow joint-disc thing, pop the pin back in place and your arm swap is done.
I hope this will be helpful to someone.
Poor Charlene has always had dark staining on her torso, ever since I bought her boxed at the local Salvation Army in 2019. My Reba McIntire doll, who I found the same day, was spared this fate (which is interesting considering the dolls probably came from the same previous owner). This is the result of a chemical reaction in the ABS plastic, which is exacerbated by UV rays. I always kept Charlene downstairs in a container, away from sunlight. But I have no idea if she was perhaps exposed to it at her previous home. Either way, these stains can and will appear arbitrarily (although sun exposure makes it more noticeable. I thought I already removed her stains back in 2019 when I first started experimenting with fixing this sort of issue. But I believe in two years the yellowing reappeared and worsened. I've been experimenting with a new technique and preventative measures, so hopefully these results will last. It only took one session for the color to disappear (there are a few areas that are a little darker, but I don't think it's good for dolls to have excessive treatments).

Decorate the inside of the bells with small pointed cylinders of white or colored clay (or, even more fun, glow in the dark), taking inspiration from real jellyfish.
Or decorate the outside. But the how to for that will come in our next installment, with the two hundred last steps of this tutorial.
Chevron Fly block tutorial on my blog for my stop on the Desperate Housewife's Quilt hosted by QuiltJane!

Agora vem a questão "destreza"..
E pra frente Brasil!!! hahaha
The first three leaves are attached. It's growing : )!

Short video tutorial on how to make a 7 wrap thread crochet bullion stitch.
I find that three things help me in making bullion stitches:
#1: I make sure the wraps are evenly side by side against my crochet hook, snuggled together.
#2: When I yarn over, I yarn over at least 1/2 inch away from the wraps and then I pull the thread through the wraps. (the extra thread that you skip winds up in the middle of the bullion stitch)
#3: I hold the wraps gently but firmly in place with my left hand as I pull the thread and crochet hook through the middle of the bullion stitch.

I was offered the opportunity to write a tutorial for Advanced Photoshop magazine back in January... at last it's been published.
The tutorial uses my WLTB™ urban flat shot to educate and inspire fellow Photoshop users into generating their very own architectural abstract images.
It's quite complicated... so don't say I didn't warn you :-)
