Wie so oft im Leben folgt auf einen langen steinigen Weg ein erfrischendes Vergnügen (schön wärs)
Awesome diving at Mike Ball Expedition to the Great Barrier Reef (Ribbon Reef & Osprey Reef) in May/June 2021. Lots of grey reef sharks, white tip sharks, a few turtles, stunning corals and sea fans - and a great diving team
Kinixys homeana, Scratchboard, February 2010
This drawing has an irregular number of costal scutes because that's the way my tortoise looks. Normally there would be four costal scutes. I will probably rework this drawing sometime in the future to be more representative of the species rather than an individual.
While snorkeling, several turtles came to play with us. This curious one circled about several times, swimming quite closely to check us out. Watching sea turles swim is so magical.
Blanding's Turtle (Emydoidea blandingii). May 31, 2010.
I saw my first Blanding's Turtle of the season today. This yellow throated beaut was basking on a log with about a dozen Midland Painted Turtles Chrysemys picta marginata when I first spotted him. I was a classic "one of these things is not like the other..." as I drove past the pond and scanned the log. By the time I worked my way close enough to get a decent photo all the Painteds had plopped into the water. The lone Blanding's was soon to follow.
