WW&F Motorman Stewart Rhine demonstrates the operation of the built-in turntable on the museum's Model T Railcar RC4, which entered service in 2010. The crank he is turning extends a jack under the car, which makes contact with the ties below and lifts the car off the rails. Very precisely balanced on the jack, the car can then be swung 180 degrees to face the other direction, allowing the car to be turned virtually anywhere on the railroad. Once facing the desired direction, the crank is turned in the opposite direction to lower the car onto the rails and retract the jack. The entire process takes just a minute or two and can be done by just one person.
This image was captured during the August 2012 Annual Picnic event at the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum in Alna, ME. Motorman Rhine was in the process of preparing the car for use as a second section on one of the museum's hourly trains.

Although seemingly oblivious of the Guy Double Decker the police pointsman will be well aware as 935 and its counterparts were well known for the noise they made as they prowled and growled around Edinburgh's bus routes. The Guy Arab Mk IV, with 63 seat Alexander bodywork was one of a fleet of 70 brought in to help in the conversion of Edinburgh's 28 tram routes to motor-bus operation, this example new at Central garage in 1955.
Its seen in excellent form exiting Hanover Street and crossing Princes Street where it will take a left turn and ascend The Mound, on route 23. It had left the northern suburb of Trinity fifteen minutes earlier on its way to the equally 'genteel' suburb of Morningside. The 23's origins went back to tramway days when trams operated between Granton Road Station (just short of Trinity) and Morningside, it was a busy and well known route which required for most of the day 10 buses from Tollcross - the nearest garage to the route.
Had a wonderful afternoon in Lismore Castle Gardens Co. Cork Ireland where you can find many beautiful exotic plants and trees. I think this is Acer Palmatum or Japanese Maple, I just love the colour and shape of the leaves.
Red Grouse in the Angus glens. 2 of us were walking back to the car and spotted this bird perched on the fencepost where he stayed put right up until we were stood on the opposite side of the road from him.
The rapidly sinking sun is visible through the big, steamy plume as the WW&F yard crew turns B&SR #7 on the Sheepscot Turntable. Note the icicles on the edge of the shop roof to the left. The temperature when this photo was taken was about 10F, and the batteries in my heated socks had pretty much given up the ghost.
