The trunk, or boot, of an automobile or car is the vehicle's main storage or luggage compartment. Trunk is used in North American English whilst boot is used elsewhere in the English speaking world.

The compartment may be located either at the front or the rear of the vehicle - normally at the other end of the vehicle to which the engine is located. The vast majority of cars have the compartment at the rear of the vehicle, though most mid-engined cars (such as the Ferrari 360) and rear-engined cars (such as the Volkswagen Beetle) have it in the front. An exceptional vehicle, the Volkswagen Type 3, had a trunk in the front and a trunk in the rear, above the low profile boxer engine. The Fiat X1/9 also had two trunks, although the rear one was quite small.

Sadly, our church did not hold a Trunk-or-Treat this year. So, we crashed on at a different church (CrossRoads Church of The Nazarene). It was packed, and there was a huge line to do the donut-on-a-string, but that didn’t stop us from doing it.

The trunk had a luggage rack at some point. Some previous owner had tried to fill the holes with bondo. Not surprisingly two of them had fallen out. I wanted a better solution with welding in a bit of metal.

We added an Ewok, Han Solo, and George Lucas when we got to church for Trunk-R-Treat.

Provenance This trunk came with Lena and Oscar Olsen on their voyage to the US from Sweden. The exact date unknown but before 1913. They gave it to my Grandmother Daisy Hale 7 miles from Linden Colorado. In 1947 my grandmother packed my my mother's wedding presents and mailed them to her in Manhattan, Kansas. In 1971 my mother Ruby Finkner gave it to me. At that time it was covered in navy green painted canvas.

"It looks like it came from a videogame - Like, say, Silent Hill."

My daughter and son-in-law got me this wonderful old trunk for Christmas two years ago! I love it! They know my taste. It still needs to be cleaned out and I'm still thinking what I want to put in there! ha

Electronic trunk pulldown repair and working demonstration.Just press down the trund lid a little bid until it will snap in. The electric motor will pull down the lid tight. You can even hear that the lid is pulled down tight into the new trunk rubber seal.

This kid was awesome at Apple Bobbing. He kept coming back, even though he lept getting wet. He was the only kid to do it the proper way. He made it easy to get some great action shots.

Seen here is a technican using the Trunk Test Panel to test trunks.

Using this panel a specific trunk (TNN) could be brought up then tests could be performed on the trunk from reading battery & ground to measuring transmission loss.

Other tests could also be performed. For example if you suspected a faulty relay on a trunk pack codes could be keyed into the number pad to exercise a specific relay. One could then go to the trunk circuit and see if the relay (and frame relay matrix) was in fact operating and releasing. As technology moved forward with the trunk frames getting smaller and smaller and replacing relays with solid state devices and the trunk packs getting smaller these tests was less usefull.
