This was a remarkably tricky shot to light. 580exii + 430exii + pixel king wireless flash triggers on ETTL. Both flashes just outside the frame pointed from just behind through the stone.

The big challenge to photographers is to be able to tell the story with only the image. The other thing is that it is not really necessary to feel the same emotion the photographer has, but rather that a response is made that triggers off a connection to something in the viewers life or reveals information that is new to him. --

The flash was freely held and the camera placed at a tripod and was triggered by a IR remote.

I didn't have a lightning trigger, so my method to catch the lightning was to just stand there with the focus on infinity and just click away. I could click 500-1000 photos at one stop. Having a UHS-II class 10 card helped with the rapid fire clicking.
I now own a lightning trigger called Pluto.

A few years ago I was invited to sub in a Friday night poker game for a person who unable to attend. Unknown to me at the time I was about to meet a great group of people who open up quite a few doors of opportunity. Although as life has changed over the years and we’ve all drifted down our own directions we still manage to find a little time in life to play a little poker.

Macro Mondays this week and for "Photography Gear" I was thinking about going with the quick release plate for my tripod but I decided to use my flash triggers instead.
Flash triggers can be really useful. I can get by without them by using the built in flash on my camera set to it's lowest power in manual mode to trigger my flashgun set to slave mode but with subjects that are reflective this can cause a problem with the camera's flash contaminating the scene, especially as the lowest power on my D5000 is 1/32 opposed to 1/128 on my other cameras. I sometimes use my camera strap to block light from the camera's built in flash but sometimes it is just easier to use my triggers.
Here I found a two and a half second exposure captured the triggers green lights and I used my flashgun to expose the rest of the scene by pressing the test button during the exposure and firing it through some diffusion material.
Strobist: AB1600 with gridded 60X30 softbox camera right. AB800 with gridded HOBD-W overhead. AB800 with gridded 7 inch reflector camera left. Triggered by Cybersync.

Made as a more humanoid gang member. The chest was painted by Modalt Masks. Unfortunately we couldn't get the metal color to match as close as I wanted.
