I'm trying to get a little more creative with my shots, and change up my post processing a little bit.
I have been really digging noise and grain in my photos for some reason...so whenever I see it in a photo I actually prefer it. It kinda gives a gritty look :).
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy!

Now for those people who don't like the thing-thing bubble hands, I cooked this up to help anyone who needs help properly making arms. This is also for Sgtsammac21, who inspired me to make this (sorry Sam, but I was bored and meh.)
Everything is colour coded to make it easier to understand, also, the hands themselves are crap, but I focused on getting the arm itself in a proper/realistic position, also, the AK's a bit small :P .
A few guidelines:
Try to use the same number of parts in both hands, that makes them the same length.
Use circles for the shoulder and elbows, and squares for the rest of the hand.
DO NOT forget that the trigger hand is looking straight, that means it will have to bend at the joint (see note).
Hope it helps a few people!

SB-600 into shoot thru umbrella at full power.
I've been doing more and more of these kind of shoots at work. Amazing the improved results you can get with just two relatively inexpensive flashes, a cheap shoot thru umbrella and some £15 wireless triggers.
On January 20, 1973, I drove a car for the first time. It was just a couple of weeks before my 20th birthday, and the car was a Pontiac Ventura operated by driving instructor Arthur Irving. A very small and grainy photo still exists that shows me entering the car to take the driver's seat, with Mr. Irving behind me going around to the passenger side. It doesn't show enough of the car to let me say if it was a 2-door or 4-door model, although the model YEAR is evident from the four-element grille: it was either a 1971 or '72, because styling changed to a more traditional (for Pontiac!) split grille for 1973. Nevertheless, when I saw this '74 Ventura at a car show in Sackville, N.B., it immediately reminded me of my motoring debut all those years ago.

For strobists: Canon 580EX on camera left. Triggered with a Canon ST-E2 infrared transmitter. Between the strobe and the kid is a large self made translucent light panel.
The light from a large panel is great for photographing kids. It gives a nice soft quality and It doensn't really matter too much if the kids move a few inches or turn their heads a bit. With a finger on the aperture dial and some expirience to guess the changes you have to make, they can even move a few feet.

Prof. Dirk Wendt did several studies on the legibility of typefaces. Some of his results have been interpreted in a questionable way, which triggered me to analyze the original materials together with Prof. Wendt, who is still happy to share his knowledge on research, statistics and many more. This photo was taken by Alexander Ertle at FontShop’s TYPO Day on the 1st of November at the Bucerius Forum in Hamburg.
Turkana, in northern Kenya, has been hit by a massive drought for over a year, triggered and worsened by the effects of El Nino. Under a program called Kenya Resilient Arid Lands Partnership for Integrated Development (Kenya-RAPID), funded by USAID and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), CRS is the lead NGO in Isiolo and Turkana Counties working working with Catholic Church dioceses to support the County governments as they develop their capacities to sustainably tap and exploit precious water reserves in Kenya's Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, or ASALs. Substantial water supplies lie below ground, so using them responsibly and maintaining them at the County level (as part of Kenya's devolution under the new Constitution of 2010) is key to the economic development of these traditionally marginalized lands. In the ASALs, crop farming is possible only along riverbeds and/or with irrigation, so livestock is a mainstay of the economy. Ensuring access to water for livestock and people is a major pillar of the program.
The work is being carried out by dozens of NGO and private sector partners, under the coordination of the Millennium Water Alliance in Washington, D.C.
CRS recently repaired this community's borehole in Lolupe, a remote village several hours outside of the Turkana County seat, Lodwar. When it broke down, the whole village had to move five hours away, to live along a riverbed that hadn't dried up. Some people didn't make the five-hour walk. "We lost three elderly women, who were too old to survive the walk," said the Lolupe village elder, Namoru Lokeno Kokoi, who was about 60.
On this day, technicians from the Diocese of Lodwar and the Lodwar Water and Sanitation Company (LOWASCO) were busy building out a water trough for a separate drinking area for the animals. Normally, people would just pump the water out onto the ground for the animals to drink, but then it just seeps back into the soil and much is wasted. Now there will be a concrete retaining trough for the water. This emergency drought response work is funded by CRS private funds (HRD).
