Controller number 2.

This one is an upgrade on my last one. I used the Picaxe 28x2 chip and powered the LED's from the 18M2 chip on the oled module which freed up 3 pins from the main 28x2. Now we have the use of sound/mic sensor, light sensor, photo gate, all on 5v, automated macro rail on 12v, solenoid valve on 12v allowing for a 3 drop sequence, Camera and Flash outputs. I can also power my diy macro lights from the solenoid socket, and turn them on or off via the program.

More photos coming soon - if you would like to use any of these photos or require a photo in a bigger size then please get in touch by sending me an e-mail to trigger@alternativevision.co.uk

Forces Armées Tchadiennes soldiers conduct marksmanship training alongside their Sénégalese instructors during Flintlock 20 on the outskirts of Kaedi, Mauritania, Feb. 20, 2020. Units from each of the 15 African militaries participating in Flintlock build upon the previous day’s training, which contributes to an increasingly complex scenario and sharpening their skills for the fight against extremism. Flintlock is an annual, integrated military and law enforcement exercise that has strengthened key partner-nation forces throughout North and West Africa since 2005. Flintlock is U.S. Africa Command’s premier and largest annual Special Operations Forces exercise. (U.S. Army photo Sgt. 1st Class Caleb Barrieau)

On January 20, 1973, I drove a car for the first time. It was just a couple of weeks before my 20th birthday, and the car was a Pontiac Ventura operated by driving instructor Arthur Irving. A very small and grainy photo still exists that shows me entering the car to take the driver's seat, with Mr. Irving behind me going around to the passenger side. It doesn't show enough of the car to let me say if it was a 2-door or 4-door model, although the model YEAR is evident from the four-element grille: it was either a 1971 or '72, because styling changed to a more traditional (for Pontiac!) split grille for 1973. Nevertheless, when I saw this '74 Ventura at a car show in Sackville, N.B., it immediately reminded me of my motoring debut all those years ago.

Nothing is more fun than sitting down and watching SpongeBob Squarepants with the kids. Good clean fun and goofiness. This is a toy we bought at Universal Studios a couple of years ago. My youngest still plays with it from time to time.

Vivitar 285hv @ 1/2 power camera left aiming down 45degrees with DIY snoot made from 1/8" cocktail straws and gorilla tape.

Canon speedlite 270ex at full power with a blue gel aimed up at background.

Both triggered by flashpoint speedlite wireless triggers I got from Adorama.

This is the Pentax smc P-D FA 100mm F2.8 macro lens. It's a true macro, able to provide 1:1 magnification. At 100mm focal length, there is a little more distance from the subject to provide some clearance. Also, the focal length is good for isolating the subject from distracting backgrounds.

I've used this lens for astrophotos and have been very pleased with the performance, even wide open. The star images are tight, even to the edges of the frame.

As with most modern lenses, the construction has a lot of plastic, so the infinity focus point is just prior to the physical stop. Thus, when I use it to take pictures of stars, I use a couple of rubber bands to create diffraction spikes to reach critical focus.

Taken with the Pentax K10D camera using the smc P-DA* 16-50mm F2.8 ED/AL (IF) SDM lens. Lighting was with AF540FGZ at half power as dumb slave on camera left diffused and bounced. Vivitar 2800 at full power and diffused on camera right and slightly behind the subject. Also at camera right and pointing straight at the subject was AF160SA. The 2800 and AF160SA were triggered with the Cactus tranceivers.

PP was with PPL4 to tweak white balance, as "Flash" was too blue. The gold walls of this room tend to mess with the white balance.
