League of Heroes: Ascent

Episode 3: Darkest Before Dawn - Part 2

“We interrupt our continuing coverage of the New Brickton prison break, it seems that we are getting an unexpected live feed from the madness in Midtown.” The news anchor stuttered, nervously shuffling through the stack of papers on the news desk. “Frank, can you switch us over…”

Static… and then the picture suddenly changed from the busy news room to a devastated street. A blonde woman, statuesque and menacing stares into a shaky camera lens.

“Good morning citizens of New Brickton. From this day forward, it will be remembered that you sent forth your champions to face Celedon the Destroyer… and I have found them wanting. They lie here now in pathetic heaps, driven before me and broken at my feet. Is this really the best you have to offer? I demand a challenge worthy of my strength! For every hour that I am unsatisfied, I will raise another block of this insignificant city! Your only other option is complete surrender. Death or servitude, I give you the gift of choice mortals. Your first hour begins now.”

The broadcast suddenly cuts to a rainbow test pattern. Unseen by the camera, a winged figure descends to the devastated street. Upon touching down on the pavement, she kneels over the motionless form of the Indestructible Man.

“Wake up! Please!” She shakes Fred’s seemingly lifeless body, “Fred, I don‘t know what’s happened to us, but I do know that you are still alive and I know that we need to get you and your friends out of here.”

no photoshop was hurt or used in the making of this picture. Tree and sunset danced with mutual consent and obvious joy.

I made this shot in a Park at Dublin. I just moved the zoom ring of my lens to make this kind of a trick shot and get movement in the picture.

Looks like someone just heard the story of William Tell! Vintage image of a pretty long legged brunette in an archery trick shot pose. The gentleman looks a little nervous to say the least. Nice vintage fashion and leg art. This found photograph is from the private collection of an unknown and/or unknowing art collector. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!

And that behind-the-back pose with the

Could have done with getting the other coaster's train into the same shot but was not really trying very hard in the cold last weekend.

Ok Quiz anyone.

1. How many points is the pink ball worth on Snooker. (No looking it up on Wikipedia!)

2. How did we achieve such a curve on this shot?

Efren "Bata" Reyes aka. The Magician

Snooker World Champion Steve Davis playing a friendly match against Ville Pasanen (former Finnish Champion) in Sports Club Turku, Finland.

Davis had lost all his luggage in the Helsinki-Vantaa airport, so he was playing in borrowed clothes and with a borrowed cue stick.

The game was played best out of 7 frames. The first frame was just warm-up and getting used to the cue. After that we saw some great shots, although Davis was not exactly giving it all he's got (not a surprise, considering the fact, that it was after all a friendly match). He once succeeded in playing the yellow from a snooker via 5 cushions. Ville Pasanen won the game 4-2 after a tight sixth frame. It was down to the remaining black, pink, and blue, and the frame could've ended either way. After some safety-play Pasanen took a great shot on the blue and cleared the table.

Well spent evening. We even had front row seats. Davis is a real comedian, and watching him play (or perform) is really entertaining. The trickshot-show of the evening was even better than the actual match. Not so many shots though, but a lot of laugh.

Steve Davis has won more professional Snooker tournaments than any other player in the sport. During the 1980's he was in the World Championships final seven times and won six of them. The 1985 final he lost to Dennis Taylor, although leading the match 8-0 during the latter session of the first day. Taylor made a comeback, won six frames in a row, and the game was 9-7 after the first day. On the second day Taylor tied the game at 11-11 and it eventually went to the very final frame (35th frame at 17-17). With Davis leading the deciding frame 62-59, it came down to the very final black. Both players played some great safety shots under extreme pressure. Davis had his chance on a blind pocket, but over-cut it, leaving Taylor an easy shot for the World Champion title.

Davis is also remembered as the one who did the first maximum break of 147 points on TV (1982).

When you're out at night one has to take the opportunity for some light painting. Again, thanks to Veikko for sticking around and helping me out.

Can she play the proper way? Rumour has it she has only ever won one game of pool. Comments appreciated.

I took them pins DOWN! :)

Love this tip I got from another wedding photographer. And that is catching someone else taking a pic on their p+s and focusing on it instead of the subject. Adds a nice twist.

I decided to try a little different composition for this shot and show both adjoining lanes. Did it work or not?
