This is a very unusual lilac; a dark purple flower with a brilliant white picotee margin. It was discovered by a Dutch hybridizer who was forcing lilacs as cut flowers in a greenhouse. This variety was developed at Highland Park by horticulturalist Richard Fenicchia. It is a unique variety that has cupped, dark violet-purple florets with a silvery reverse. Ornamental Features

Primrose Lilac features showy panicles of fragrant buttery yellow flowers rising above the foliage in mid spring. The flowers are excellent for cutting. Landscape Attributes

Primrose Lilac is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with an upright spreading habit of growth. Its relatively coarse texture can be used to stand it apart from other landscape plants with finer foliage.

ROUEN LILAC (Syringa x chinensis)

This is hybrid between the common and cutleaf lilacs. It has smaller foliage than the common lilac, and produces a heavy abundance of violet flowers, which frequently weigh down the branches.
