I wanted to focus on the balance I created within my scene with that composition, trying to have more or less the same space between the outer trunks (left and right) surrounding the middle trees.

- GET UP EARLY : no secrets there
- Think before you shoot
- ZOOM IN to refine your subject
- Simplify & balance your scene
- Clean the edges of your frame
- Play with your aperture (try it wide, and low iso (if no wind))
- Select your moment (sun & fog)
MOST important : respect the nature
- Do not crush the flowers (feet / tripod)
- Stay on paths
- Do not pick the flowers
- Stay quiet for forest dwellers

This tree and I have history. I had tried to photograph it on Monday but the light was all wrong and the composition was not good and I swear it kept moving!
I snuck up on it this time though and managed to grab this shot before it realised I was there and started playing up again!
Beacon Hill wood is a fantastic place but it is also a very narrow wood and its on a .......well, it says it in the name, its on a hill. Therefore the wind cuts through it easily making low ISO shots tricky. I had the ISO 'ramped' up to 800 for this one and was horrified by the noise ( it was not bad actually, I am being overly dramatic) that thus far I hadn't really had to deal with in my daytime shots. But what's a hobby like this for if it isnt meant to challenge right?
This will be top of my list come Autumn to return to...in woodland camo so this damn tree doesn't see me coming hopefully!

..more amazing scene just before sunset in the mountains.
After a long time of "no shoot" period (due to job obligations :/), taking the car with a friend, just going for the mountains, despite the cold, frozen and dangerous roads and the thick fog, and have again a special day, shooting again.. =)
Magic is still everywhere, just slow down! =)

It is actually snowing in Belgium, lets share another one from that series in the High Fens in Belgium in December.
I took this image just before sunrise, purple color was to see in the sky giving a perfect background for that lone tree !

Solitary trees are a favourite subject, and I love finding new ways to present them. These old fence posts provided a perfect foreground element to frame this elegant wintering tree.

a place that has already been photographed a lot, but nevertheless very photogenic.
The shutter speed is not that long to avoid a totally flat water, I wanted some motion.
Photo taken with a polarizer to remove water's reflection on the rocks and also some reflection on the leaves in the trees, which enhances the saturation 'naturally' without an overprocessed image needed afterwards of these yellow/orange tones.
In the early morning there was mist, I had arrived very early to be disturbed by no one, which was the case for 1-2 hours! enough to take advantage of the place and also refine the different compositions.

Again I used a CPL (circular polarizer filter) to enhance colors's leaves by reducing reflected light.

Just for a couple of minutes that cloud caught fire and just glowed. It balanced the slit of light through the low clouds, which seemed to slice off the trees. Magic.

In post prod I tried to adjust colors in order to be able to differenciate them, avoiding them to look the same it gives us a great variety of leaves !

a place that has already been photographed a lot, but nevertheless very photogenic. The composition is basically quite simple, here I wanted to add a little touch by adding the stones in the foreground. I tried also to be close to those rocks in order to have the waterfall as the bridge higher than me.
The shutter speed is not that long to avoid a totally flat water, I wanted some motion.

On a photo tour you often look for a suitable place to take photos of the sunset in the entire region. On this day we drove through Eastern Switzerland.
When we took a break in the evening at the Alpstein Mountains, we soon had the feeling that this is the right place for it. Behind me it was cloudless in the west, at the same time the clouds on the Säntis dissolved. When the sun disappeared behind the hills, nature started fireworks. Out of sheer joy, I was probably also the last eastern Swiss marmot, pulled out of hibernation.

July 2021 - France - The Mont Saint Michel
For the record, no, this photo was not taken with a drone.
I lacked height for these meanders to give a feeling of a 'path' to Mont Saint Michel
That's why I held my tripod at arm's length on which I had fixed my camera and shot a series of photos with a timer. Until the composition, focus etc. suited me.
