The grykes are the deep fissures in the limestone pavement, in which plants find a sheltered habitat. This was my last photo at the Lone tree this holiday.

A 300yo tree in the rainforest just of the Gordon River on our rainforest adventure. I love the green moss & green life all around the trees...

The Tree Swallows have been nesting in the bird box, and on this day, the Crow decided he wanted to have a look for eggs or chicks. Upon landing and attempting to get in, a series of at least 4 or 5 Swallows preceded to dive-bomb the Crow, and drive him away, at least temporarily. I took almost 200 frames trying to capture the action, keeping my shutter speed up (1/3200) to try and freeze the fast-flying Swallow. They are SO fast, by the time the Crow looked up, the Swallow was usually out of the frame! Since I had to focus on the Crow, this was the only frame where both birds are in the same plane of view and focused!

This tree looked to be alone on the mountainside. When you looked up, it was not alone with the company of clouds and moon.

This red headed woodpecker was photographed perched in a tree at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Martin County, Florida. See this, and more, on my website at tom-claud.pixels.com.

How did I do this?

1.Added vignetting

2.Altered levels on both sky and ground separately using a feather 150 pixels.

3.Added some grain and altered the opacity until I got my preferred effect.

4. Used burn tool to increase treee shadow

Some very challenging conditions down at Derwentwater this morning with frequent showers to give photographers and camera gear a regular soaking. Was good to bump into Shaun Derby again this morning at the lake side. I even managed to bag a few shots without raindrops on my filters. All in all a good couple of hours :-)

Autumn at the beach is a lonely place - taken in Northern Saskatchewan at Prince Albert National Park, Canada.

In the beauty, among the trees

Face caressed by the summer breeze

Hear the birds sing in the skies

See the clouds, float past your eyes

Walk between the spreading trees

Feel the lovely summer breeze

That falls upon your waiting face

As past you, beauty it does race

On the hills just above Sheffield, if I recall correctly. Pulled from the "is it worth putting on flickr?" folder.

Tree branches (with building in background) shot on a local university campus in San Antonio, Texas as the sun was rising during the early morning hours.

Tree at Padarn lake is a mess!

On the shore of Lily Pond in Vermont

A 650 nm infrared image of a tree in. I've waited until the trees in the background were overshadowed by the clouds to achieve a decent separation for the main subject.

taken near Etosha National Park, camp site

Full moon over Carinthia

old trees know

how to be

how to sway in the breeze

how to shimmer in the sun

how to dance in the rain

how to watch the world go ‘round n ‘round

and be strong

and grow old gracefully

just to be

a tree

Here is proof, as if we needed it, that autumn is passing quickly and we are almost into winter.
