Twice a day, the waters around the island of Mont St. Michel disappear opening an opportunity to walk to the island across the sea bottom. The difference between the high and low tide is around 12 meters at spring tides.

A lone runner traversing the frozen Chicago lakefront. This past Saturday was slightly 'warmer' and the sky was clear so in between running errands, I went to the lake to take a few photos. The tracks that you see on the snow were a result of me running back (and forth) to my car in order to warm up. This happened a few times. Brrr :D
Taken at the traverse of Roccia Nera and Breithorn with view back to Breithornzwillinge and the massif of Monte Rosa behind. The reddish colours at the glare ice below come from Sahara sand, which was transported by the wind to the alps this year several times.
A view I've revisited a number of times. This is probably the most well lit shot from this location yet as CPKC 2-104 traverses the valley.
'twas a foggy morning when we arrived (and looked all the better for it).
Also enjoyed a Lowry exhibition while we were there, which was a nice, unplanned surprise.

This was the first crossing of Crib Goch for the Mrs and although slightly nervous of the drops either side she did fantastic.
Despite the traverse having a bit of a reputation for injuries, rescues and worst of all attracting the attention under-equipped and under-experienced 'tourists' the route linked into the Snowdon Horseshoe is an incredible day out and probably one of my favorite walks in Snowdonia.
Thanks for looking
The eastbound Zephyr wraps through the 10° curve of Little Ten Curve near the west end of Rocky. Up until the early 1980s, the west switch of Rocky as at the start of the curve to the left of the frame. At that point in time, there was only a single track wrapping around Little Ten Curve. However, the increased size of coal trains led to Rio Grande lengthening several sidings, including Rocky. The Zephyr glides through the curve on the main amidst a field of green under a blue sky filled with non-threatening clouds.

This is the hilltop locally called The Larach, traversed by a single track road going from Loch Eck to Ardentinny on Loch Long. It is reputed to be haunted by the ghost of Baron Macinturner, who was murdered in 1685 on his way from his mansion to the nearby Whistlefield Inn. His memorial cairn can still be found at the top of the hill.
