These photos were taken by my little sister, Maria Inês (merinight.deviantart.com; www.olhares.com/alive). I worked in this beautiful park as a guide and am so in love with it I just had to do a trash the dress there!
I took different accessories than the ones I used in the actual wedding, just made a fun day of it. It was a cool sisters' day out.
By refusing single-use items, reducing your waste, reusing items and recycling trash, you can become part of the solution and make a difference to our oceans.
The idea of free newspapers came after the Copenhagen Metro was built. They are distributed at Metro and train stations, and that is where people dump them when finished. No amount of advertisting "take the paper with you" has prevented a ton of paper trash piling up every day. The ordinary trash containers designed for the metro can't cope. The solution is frequently a giant plastic bag as shown in the picture. Not the best example of Danish design! (And yes, the floor is littered with trash in the background. The place is cleaned daily, but people have turned into Slobs in the City.)

This room was the worst, all of their belongings that got left behind were in here. Everything was molding and rotting and there were cockroaches everywhere. You can see the water line on the wall.
Two of my friends insisted on my photographic services in order to trash their wedding dress. I was happy to oblige them.

Trash can embedded underground, with a foot-lever for opening the lid. This was in the old cemetery in downtown Savannah.
Not sure what the rationale might be for this. Several possibilities come to mind, none of which are particularly compelling.

My first Trash the Dress shoot. What fun! Coos Bay, OR....this is not your warm water coastal experience. I was in up to my waist too.
Everything has its place in photography, that includes trash, if it is for a better cause why not? I personally hate littering, but do not help removing litter properly in the public, but I hope taking photographs will help raising awareness.
launched a group on flickr today to raise awareness for the environment, inspired by bad human habits towards the disposal of waste. I feel like a loser doing nothing about it, hope it makes me feel better.
