Sneak peek inside the Fisher Body Plant 21. Built in 1919 for the Fisher Brothers - Among the many uses, building Buick and Cadillac bodies from 1930 to 1956. In 1982 General Motors announced it was closing the plant and moving limousine production to Flint. The last day of production was April Fool’s Day, 1984. It has been vacant since the mid 1990s

Ogni anno oltre 8 milioni di tonnellate di plastica finiscono negli oceani.
L’80% entra in mare spinto dal vento o trascinato dagli scarichi urbani e dai fiumi, il resto è prodotto dalle navi.
Le microplastiche originate dalla fotodegradazione e dall’erosione delle correnti sono dannosissime, scambiandole per plancton i pesci se ne nutrono rendendole così un ingrediente comune nell’intera catena alimentare.
L’ingerimento accidentale di plastica è un fenomeno talmente comune che oltre il 50% delle tartarughe marine ne ha subito gli effetti.
Prima che si verifichi un danno irreversibile ai nostri mari bisogna necessariamente invertire la rotta.
Bisogna ridurre la percentuale di plastica che non viene riciclata o smaltita in inceneritori o termovalorizzatori, che spesso finisce per esser bruciata all’aperto rilasciando inquinanti e gas serra o che finisce direttamente nell’ambiente.
Bisogna ridurre drasticamente l’utilizzo degli articoli in plastica monouso.
Bisogna pensare a come riparare l’enorme danno esistente; nei mari sono presenti vere e proprie isole di rifiuti che vorticano seguendo le correnti naturali.
Si trova nell’Oceano Pacifico il più grande accumulo di spazzatura galleggiante al mondo, la “Great Pacific Garbage Patch”, chiamata anche “Pacific Trash Vortex”.
Le sue dimensioni sono immense, le stime parlano di un minimo di 700.000 km² di estensione fino a più di 10 milioni di km².
Queste fotografie rappresentano dei rifiuti che vorticano in un mulinello d’acqua e che, presumibilmente, andranno a far parte delle 8 tonnellate di plastica che anche quest’anno riverseremo in mare.

Here's an odd one that is hard to explain. From what I can tell, they appear to be standing on a dump site and are modeling various items they found. Note the lace up girdle the boy on the right is wearing. Found in Ohio.

Als während eines Fotoshootings eine kleine Macke am Absatz entdeckt wurde, sind die Schuhe sofort ausgetauscht worden, und im Müll gelandet. Im Müllcontainer dieses Fotostudios findet man immer wieder gut erhaltene Schuhe, Kleidungsstücke und vor allem nur einmal getragene Nylons.

If you want to try this classy style, you can cut spirals out of plastic bags and twist and iron them together. The cute little buttons are made out of milk jug caps.

Description:This dress is created from everything shiny. The metal panels are aluminum cans that have been cut, flattened, filed and washed in an industrial dishwasher as to not smell or be dangerous. The bodice is chip bags and tabs and the zipper is from a tent door. The belt is sewn from a broken umbrella, reinforced by cardboard and decorated with a fried hard drive. Many thanks to Bev for her hard drive and inspiration.

Description:This outfit stems from a suggestion from Pamela Ross that menswear should be represented combined with the fact that being your own model is the easiest because fittings are so convenient to schedule. Overcoming a childhood fear of sewing pants, these garbage bags are necessary for any self-respecting bagmonster. They are lined and reinforced by an old tent. The vest is made from a telephone book, chip bags, a formerly favourite pair of jeans and some more tent. Many thanks to Pam and my jeans - you were excellent pants.

we asked a builder if he had some tile trash... 'go to the back yard, there is a container, but I don't think you will find worthy stuff'
scooping off the first and second uninteresting layers, we found what is worthy to us - happy treasure hunting, and some tiles will go into the new paper workshop!
I came by these wonderful old B & W photos by way of my aunt. She was at a Scrap Booking convention/ retreat in the Red Woods of northern Calif. This woman sitting at the same table as my aunt, threw out three old photo albums full of family photos & post cards from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The lady said the albums once belonged to her mother in law and since she didn't know the people in the photos she tossed the albums in the trash. My aunt later went dumpster diving and gave me one album and she kept the other two.
You don't have to know the people to enjoy the photos. Well just like the old sayings go, "A picture is worth a 1000 words", or "One man's trash is another man's treasure"
