The ribbon that was on one of the Christmas cakes my sister made for us.
lenswrangler helped a bit, by telling us that back light might be the way to go.
Not so easy to do in our apartment, until I thought of sticking the ribbon to the patio door with some Blue-Tac.
Once I'd got a photo, I couldn't measure exactly how big it was, so have cropped to a ratio of 1:1 for the group rules.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

My lovely frosted translucent glass cake plate. It's circular and flat, with a leaf-vein pattern molded onto the underside, and four tiny glass feet. I've had it since 1970 and it has enjoyed many sweet uses. Pavlovas, Chocolate cakes, Birthday cakes, Christmas cakes, muffins, cup cakes and more. It doesn't come out often however, when it does, it's quite the star of the show.
A small bug encased in a piece of amber, with a side light. A present, that we find rather spooky and it lives in a drawer! Taken out for the Macro Mondays translucent theme.

I believe that some spiders can live several years so it could possibly be the same Flower Crab Spider (Misumena vatia) as the one that spent time in the garden last year flic.kr/p/2j8KrsA
This morning, the spider was hanging around on the hanging basket waiting for any unsuspecting meal to land within range. It was difficult to get a tight focus as the spider kept moving around and also appears rather translucent at this head-on angle.

Spotted this single translucent fungi in a field in Ahimate Reserve, Palmerston North. I was fascinated by it's transparency, patterns and shape.
17 image stack with helicon focus. Had to shelter it from the breeze but magaged to get a successful stack in the end!
I'm completely stumped about this little guy's identification. I took the photo because I liked the way he was backlit, but when I wanted to get a good look at him, he was gone in a flash. If anyone knows, please contact me.
