I love the look of cherries. The translucent quality of this little group plus the fine cottonwood fluff that had landed on them just made them so appealing to me. Large really shows the details if you've time.

Thank you!

Strobist info:

Two Nikon SB900 and one SB700 speedlights, all with snoots, were placed 90-degrees camera left at camera level, and side-by-side, illuminating the dice and the background beyond. The two SB900's were closest to the camera and set to Manual mode @ 1⁄8 power. Furthest away was the SB700. It was also in Manual mode and fired @ 1⁄16 power.

The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard PlusX's; the SB700 was put in SU-4 mode and was triggered by the other flashes.

The ribbon that was on one of the Christmas cakes my sister made for us.

lenswrangler helped a bit, by telling us that back light might be the way to go.

Not so easy to do in our apartment, until I thought of sticking the ribbon to the patio door with some Blue-Tac.

Once I'd got a photo, I couldn't measure exactly how big it was, so have cropped to a ratio of 1:1 for the group rules.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

As usual bright ideas don't turn out as you anticipate or hope for, and then the unexpected presents itself!

A small bottle backlit on the desktop surrounded by a cylinder of tracing paper that just happened to gape open! A case of grabbing the camera which just happened to have a lens attached - four quick photographs all handheld, and unusually this is the last taken.

A little post-processing involving light levels, sharpness and colour balance, and here is an unanticipated result.

I've listened to myself saying 'KISS' (Keep It Simple Stupid') - it is certainly that!

Flickr Friday Theme 3 June 2022.

My lovely frosted translucent glass cake plate. It's circular and flat, with a leaf-vein pattern molded onto the underside, and four tiny glass feet. I've had it since 1970 and it has enjoyed many sweet uses. Pavlovas, Chocolate cakes, Birthday cakes, Christmas cakes, muffins, cup cakes and more. It doesn't come out often however, when it does, it's quite the star of the show.
