Another shot from the Rockefeller Chapel at The University of Chicago. Nothing fancy here. I can't wait to head back...I just ordered my Pentax 10-17mm fish-eye and can't wait to use it. And I think the UofC has tons to offer for the fish-eye.
Deleted the previous post, sorry and thank you for your wishes :)
This is from archives, Split Hibiscus from my terrace. Missing flowers, leaves, butterflies, dragon-flies, insects and other green things.
One of three photos taken of the 3D Toronto sign in Nathan Phillips Square today.
"Each letter can be moved and placed on its own
Each letter is 3 meters (10 feet) tall and rests on a weighted plinth (base)
The total word is 22 meters (74 feet) long
The total weight of the whole sign is 9,207 kg (20,300 lbs)
Each letter weighs approximately 136 kg (300 lbs)
Each letter base (plinth) weighs approximately 1,180 kg (2600 lbs)
Each letter is equipped with L.E.D. lights and can transition to approximately 228 million different colours, controlled via Wifi
The whole piece contains approximately 1300 feet of L.E.D. lights
The letters are constructed with a steel frame, aluminum cladding and a translucent polycarbonate front and back (Alupanel)
The colourful sides are vinyl wrap that can be removed, so the letters can be re-skinned with different vinyl designs for other occasions."

Finally I succeeded to seize to take a nap of 90mins in today afternoon. Although anxiety is still there when the dream ends, at least I feel that today, a precious Saturday, I have done something purely for my own goodself.
Window detail from a church in the old town area of Siegen, Germany. I'll have to do some more investigation to come up with the background.
'Light' always plays such an important role in how I choose to photograph things...I'm always Amazed at how it can enhance shape and re-define definition...Magically taking something ordinary and transform it into something 'Extraordinary' !~
Loved the wings on this bee. I find my problems with macro photography are (a) fighting the urge to crop the image or (b) moving in too close. I enjoy seeing pollinators doing what they do best: pollinating. Removing the flowers and focusing on the bee alone, while providing a cool image, isn't the whole story.
Worth a look in light box :)
A giant thank you to Jim (SARhounds) who put me on the right track for the plant ID!

This dandelion growing in our front yard made for a quick, decent near-sunset picture. I need to get these buggers out before they spread even more, but least I got a decent opportunity here. The center of the seed head is blocking the sun, giving an interesting lighting effect. The colorations- hints of magenta and green, are from the sunlight refracting through the translucent fibers.
Brisbane Ranges National Park is located broadly between Bacchus Marsh & Geelong, west of Melbourne. Whilst it may not have the visual stunning features of some places, it is a very quiet place for contemplation (esp mid week).
Translucent leaves - just another element of visual splendor.

Periclimenes sp., in the sand in Dauin, Negros, Philippines. These shrimps are very hard to see - almost completely translucent. They tend to live near the base of anemones.

The red Hibiscus was found growing next to the white ones, just a few days ago. It sure dresses up the nearby fence.
Happy Fence Friday!
We had been to the Dudley zoo with our child this weekend. I am not a person keen to go to zoos, for I dislike to see animals in captivity. So, when most people were busy looking at animals, I went about to shoot this leaf from a creeper into which sunlight was peeping standing on an awkward stone.
A minute back I turned around and saw people behind me waiting patiently for me to move and when I did, they went and took a peek into the creeper and then gave one weird look at me !! I am not sure what they were expecting to see there :)
