playing around with the new photos app for mac, and tried one of the filters for this shot - transfer. i think it works well for this kind of photo where the light is too harsh and you would like to get some of those shadows back.

The former North West 59 plate Profile are being spread across North Scotland with 53337 now joining Aberdeen depot from Buchan. Sister 53336 is at Elgin with 53339 in the Highlands and 53338 also appearing to be on the move.

53337 heads for Glen O Dee Hospital, a twice daily variant of the 201. The original historic hospital building was destroyed by fire in 2016 in a suspected arson attack. BHS, an iconic name on Union Street for many a year also came to an end in 2016 is similar suspicious circumstances and can be seen behind the Profile.

With the marine layer of clouds hangin' tough on a Sunday morning my Conductor was sent to play brakeman (uTiLiTy) with the 0200 Pokey yard job (technically a local freight) after we brought our 9,000 foot, 40 tons over the notch 7 restriction Q down from Ranier. I told Jeff we were getting bagels when we got done but then this kinda fucked it up so I went to get bagels and then surprised him and Penny over at UP's Itasca Yard on the far east side of Superior. And then y'know, took a few photos in the process. These jobs regardless of their symbol are usually called the "Peg transfer" regardless of whether it's performing interchange with BNSF at 28th Street (NP-GN), CP at Stinson (SOO) or UP here at Itasca (CNW) in deference to this being a tradition Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific assignment.

Here a standard triple of twin ports SW1500s (Dash 9s) is stopped to swap ends after shoving off the UP interchange

I am in the process of transferring files to the new back up NAS server and I found this image. It has always been of my favorites and somehow in the shuffle I lost sight of it.

This image is from my first go-around as a "Hollywood" photographer. I just finished building a new studio and I'm gearing up for my second go-around.

One of the things I would do during a photo shoot was to take pictures that "grabbed" me, they didn;t hav eto have anything to do with the task at hand they were just pretty. I would catch some sh*t from time to time because I was being paid to just shoot headshots. SO to counter that argument I stopped putting a number on the amount of rolls came with the shoot.

Everyone was three rolls six "looks" for X dollars. I became 1 actor a day no roll count all day. That caused three things to occur, no presure to get it right in three rolls and I became a better photographer because of granting myself recless abandon, and third it stopped people complaining about me shooting these types of shots.

This image was captured with a Nikon F5 camera with a 70-210mm D-series lens. Film was Ilford HP5 rated at 200iso. Film was scanned using an Epson V750 scanner and Silverfast scanning software. Post processing was done in Photoshop.

A nice little post-Thanksgiving surprise was catching CN's Glenn-Markham transfer, the L53691-29. Now that the EJ&E has been integrated into CN and is used for most traffic passing through Chicago, L536 is the only link Chicago's ex-GM&O Glenn Yard has with the outside world.

This transfer is one of the few freight trains that use the St. Charles Air Line: The L536 transfer and Iowa manifest freights M337 and M338 are the only freight traffic scheduled to travel via the Air Line, supplemented by occasional coal traffic to and from BNSF at Union Avenue.

This date's L536 engine consist is: BCOL 4617, CN 2690, EJE 670, and IC 3115.

At left is an outbound South Shore train and inbound Metra Electric train, both equipped with relatively new bilevel MU cars.

The Lake Transfer with 2601 & 4400 is leaving the north end of Brooklyn Yard Portland, OR. This transfer was headed to the BN (SF) Lake Yard across the Willamette River. On this day in 1995 there were 8 SD9Rs working in and around the yard: 4313, 4334, 4338, 4355, 4382, 4384, 4400 and 4415.

Admiral Cab equipped SD40-2 #3228 leads the NS Avondale-Knoche transfer up to Olive St. in KCMO on a dreary day in March. This one had originally been a Southern, high-hood Dash-2, and while I'd prefer to have seen that rolling towards me, I'll take what I can get, and be glad that it's not another GE.

The Twin Cities is amazing place to railfan, with tons and tons of different angles to shoot, train after train and usually cool power. On this trip it was no exception except for that it was raining. Here the CP-BN transfer has just set out a block of cars at the Commercial's Midway yard. The consist includes CP 6241, CP 6063 which is one of the last running SD40-2's on the CP, and then the odd cabbed DME 3801 was bringing up the rear. Luckily the crew set out the whole head block and was able to capture a decent shot of the DME engine. The well cars on the right are on a BNSF rco job that is working the ramps.

One of only a few remaining Enviro 300s at Worcester (at the time) is one of only a handful of vehicles there that remains in the Barbie 3 livery. In October 2018, she was transferred across to First PMT (Potteries Motor Traction).

First Wyvern's VX05 LWF (67662) is seen waiting time in Bromsgrove Bus Station before continuing on to Catshill with a 144A. The 144/144A operate up to every 15 minutes between Worcester and Catshill, with an extension to Birmingham up to every 30 mins. VX05LWF was new in May 2005 to Midland Red West, as one of a batch of 13 E300s. The E300 has previously worn branding for the 44 (Great Malvern - Worcestershire Royal Hospital). I personally don't like that Wyvern that the Enviros have been (or are to be) replaced, especially seeing as they were replaced by boring Wright Streetlites, and are to be replaced by refurbished Mercedes Citaros. However, I'm not as annoyed about the Citaros as I am about the Streetlites. 67662 is an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro 300.
