CSX Transfer Job Y130 heads into Norris Yard in Irondale, AL. to interchange with Norfolk Southern before returning back to Boyles Yard.
I made this on Sunday during the Polaroid Image Transfer class I gave, which went well I think. Started with 9 people, 3 had to leave early and finished with 3 die hards who were having a good time... :) It was a lot of fun, and I lived through the nervousness. ha ha

Rock Island rebuilt RS2 (451) leads a transfer freight from Rock Island to GM&O, across from Joliet Union Depot. The friendly wave really helped! Since the "F" on the near end of the frame marks the "Front" of the unit, that must be from the engineer. A nice clean ride like this would make me happy too.
Negotiating the S curve on Main Track 1 of the UP KC Metro Sub west of Broadway is CPKC train YKK12-15, "Run 12", headed across town with a transfer from CPKC's Knoche Yard to UP's 18th St. Yard. Quentin Sudlow is working this job today. 12/15/24.
T451 transfer from Port Waratah to Werris Creek approaches High Street Maitland with 9007, 9015, 9006, 9016, 48127. The 90's are expected to begin banking duties over Ardglen. 48127 had been the long time Port Waratah shunter before being displaced by an 81 class in November 2019. It had been stored on Kooragang Island prior to being transferred to Werris Creek.
Often old barns long past their active life, become convenient storage facilities or a stable for pets. Once my father had retired from 60 years of farming, he transferred his efforts to a second career of raising enough fruits and vegetables in his garden for a population the size of France. The siblings found it easier to thank him, put a bushel of his offerings in our car trunk and then throw them away later than to say no to his generosity. Kept us both happy.

A brief, and unusual, consist makes its way along at Chicago in mid-April 1971. Santa Fe GP20 3143 was sent out to retrieve Baggage 3650 (a 1953 Budd product) and bring it back to the Dearborn Street station area. The GP20 must have been what was available to make the transfer run, resulting in this oddball consist.

Off Highway 62 in 29 Palms... doesn't look like much during the day, but photographs well at night. The large solar power facility to the northeast feed into this transfer station, which powers the town of 29 Palms. I believe the marine base has its own dedicated power supply.
CP Transfer G41 with UP SD40N's is on the Indiana Harbor Belt in Franklin Park at Tower B12 enroute to the UP at Proviso.
The Paducah and Louisville, or PAL, seems to be an elusive op. Largely operating at night or on as needed schedules, it puts some people off from taking time off to catch them in action. I just wanted something, and they delivered. LCL-1, lead by 2121 and 2100, shoves their train back towards L&S Jct with a transfer for NS.

It's a beautiful morning as a northbound BNSF Argentine Yard to KCS Knoche Yard transfer makes it's way past the brick warehouses at Old Union Depot Interlocking in Kansas City Missouri's West Bottoms. May 3, 2016
An added bonus on this particular day are the two locomotives leading this morning's train- a nice matched set of former Santa Fe GP39-2's in their original paint, twenty years after the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe merged.
Leading today is the 2777, ex ATSF 3408, built as ATSF 3634 in February, 1975. Trailing locomotive is the 2784, formerly ATSF 3623 built in January, 1975.
This one really surprised me, it was one of three Volvos taking part in an event that we being set up. The Transfer was basically a stretched 245 estate with three rows of seats. Estate limousines certainly aren't an idea that caught on

Moving at a snail's pace off the UP Elevator Lead and onto KCT Track 354 is UP train YKS75R-08 with a transfer from UP's 18th St. Yard to BNSF's Argentine Yard led by a pair of SD40N's. Here, they're easing out of The By's at Armstrong and approaching Adams St Interlocking, getting ready to cross the lower deck of the KCT Kaw River Bridge. 2/8/25.

BNSF Transfer Job passes through 2nd Avenue in Birmingham, AL. with a pair of blue & white BNSF lettered GP38-2's in charge nicknamed Smurfs for their blue & white paint scheme.
Soo 2201-B and 2225-B on Transfer #1 switch their train near Cardigan Jct. before heading to St. Paul. June 1978.
