Its been a while folks, I trust you are all well under the current situation.
Well since my last photograph uploads, much has not happened world wide. Just been busy with working in a Harrogate Nursing home, sorting out the Garden and walking along the Nidd Gorge.
Today June 1st will be remembered as the day the Witch Way changed into the Pendle Wizz, as three dedicated former WitchWay Volvo B7TLs with Wrightbus Gemini bodies. Were placed into service on a temporary timetable for the new Pendle Wizz route, which replaces the X43 journeys into Skipton. The new orange and purple livery on 2751-53 looks very sharp and crisp on the first day out. With typical flare from Best Impressions' Ray Stenning's design team.
The X43 was a Ribble service out of Manchester into Burnley and Colne via Rawtenstall. The route had seen changes, becoming the 743, with the Timesaver launch during the 1980's. By the 1990's the route still operated, but under the Stagecoach colours. By 2001, Stagecoach had simply sold the East Lancashire depots to Blazefield. New Volvo B7TLs with Plaxton President bodywork (fifteen new in June 2001) arrived and became a familiar sight around the Burnley and Colne area. With special Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday extensions to Skipton and Grassington.
In 2005 the fifteen Plaxton bodied Volvos were replaced by fifteen new stylish Wrightbus Gemini bodied Volvo B7Tls, in the same stunning livery as the 36, but with WitchWay branding. Then at Halloween on October 31st, the fleet was updated and given a new livery and rebrand. Still as the WitchWay and with the familiar and update witch on her broomstick, the new Volvo's mix with the out going 05 plated Geminis. With the revised re-numbering of the Mainline services, which now left out Skipton, the Witch way was redirected to serve Skipton instead of Nelson, during 2017.
By the beginning of 2020, it was announced that a new batch of ADL E40D MMCs were being ordered for the WitchWay, for delivery in the autumn of 2020. The Volvo B9s were going to be used across the Transdev groups. This left the some of the former WitchWay Volvo B7s being repainted into the 2013 WitchWay livery and used alongside the B9s. But the plan was to curtail the Skipton extensions before the new double deckers arrived. But all was not lost as during the Covid-19 Lockdown, three of the repainted WitchWay buses were given a new livery and branded as the Pendle Wizz. Here 2752 is seen on Broughton Road in Skipton, working the first day's operation of the new look to the Burnley-Skipton service, on June 1st 2020.
A short 3 hour break during work today in York and a chance to catch up with former Lothian Buses 521 seen now operating with Transdev in York as 4021 on City Sightseeing services. 521 seen advertising that she will soon be becoming electric powered! 10th August 2017.
Seen at York garage is 4007 with withdrawn open toppers 4011,4019 and 4010 behind..
4010 shows on Bustimes as still out on the road but has been parked up for some time, I think the ticket machine in 4001 is from 4010
My 4th (and final, for now) shot of Transdev's X98/ X99 Skyclass MMCs is 2017 entering the affluent village of Linton; having just crossed over the River Wharfe. Although mostly all of the areas around here are pretty expensive; this particular village appears to be inhabited exclusively by football players and range rover-driving chief executives, all with private registration plates and no indicators.

The transdev route 21 links rural villages to the north of Knaresborough with Boroughbridge. It is amazing from observation how few people now use these routes since I was last in this area. This bus never picked up a soul after leaving Boroughbridge and it was mid morning on a fine day...it wont last in its current form. Speaking to people locally the numerous changes and splits in the route coupled with previous unreliability has almost killed pleasure and shopping potential with only the most necessary journeys now undertaken. Goldsborough is a fine village with attractive centre, the approach from the Knaresborough side is through two listed gate piers, one of which has mysteriously been knocked down by a passing vehicle. Perhaps interesting that planning permission was recently rejected for new houses in fields near the village with the narrow entrance through the piers listed as one reason why...
