Major service changes in the rural area to the north and west of York in late May saw Transdev services 142/3 between York and Ripon and 56/7 between Ripon and Harrogate withdrawn and replaced by the 22/23. With a convoluted route of two-and-a-half hours in length, there are unlikely to be too many takers end-to-end, though I doubt that’s the point. Seemingly holding the notion that they were rebranding a children’s nursery rather than a bus route, Transdev have dubbed the 22/23 ‘Little Explorers’, with three ageing MPDs suitably branded. In all seriousness, this venture is a creative attempt to encourage commercial viability in the face of a perpetual cycle of council cuts, and Transdev are to be commended for their positivity.

From left to right:
Keighely & District 1809 in the current/old 662 Shuttle livery as looks a bit battered.
The bus to the right of that is after the vehicle is stripped out and getting ready for more work to start the refurb.
The next bus most noticeably has a new front end applied to look like a more up to date eclipse mark 2.
The last bus, 1810 is the finished article. It has usb charging point, new interior, refurb on the engine??, new livery, and registered on private plates. Looks great!
