Lead locomotive Freightliner 66614 has the through line at Swindon allowing the 6A10 08:41 East Usk yard-Hayes loaded bogie flats to overtake ICE 800035 making a service stop with a London bound passenger train. The notice (R) reminds drivers to lower the pantograph before venturing onto the Kemble Branch. One can only speculate as to the effect of a low GWR bridge on all that expensive kit.
Back in the summer of 2018 LNER's class 91 electric locomotive 91 121 was selected to represent LNER's contribution to the LGBT movement and community with the locomotive being decked out in 'Trainbow' vinyls as seen here in this view of the locomotive in platform 6 at London King's Cross prior to its scheduled 12:35 departure to Leeds. Probably a pun on the locomotive's running number 121 ('one-to-one') played a major influence on the locomotive being selected and thus adorned with these colourful 'Trainbow' LGBT vinyls!
Class 390 Pendolino, unit 390119, was seen at Platform 8 at Waverley prior to departure on the 1252 hrs service from Edinburgh to Preston. This train would normally operate through to London Euston via Birmingham New Street but the service was partially cancelled due to an issue with train crew.
Somewhat bizarrely this 10 car Class 800 IET is operating the Sunday local GWR stopping service 2C14 09.00 Bristol Temple Meads to Weston-super-Mare. ( It then runs as the 1A13 09.51 Weston-super-Mare to London Paddington service )

Avanti West Coast’s colourful Class 390 Pendolino 390119 “Progress” in its special wrap celebrating the LGBT community was captured at Platform 8 at Waverley. The livery was launched in August 2020 and the train named “Progress” two months later after a competition. 390119 operated the 1252 West Coast departure but owing to a train crew issue was only operating as far as Preston rather than London Euston. Above the train, the Hilton and Scotsman hotels are visible on either side of North Bridge, itself still subject to ongoing repairs.

CrossCountry Class 221 221138 and LNER Class 91 91121 with Trainbow vinyls at Newcastle, 5 March 2019.
Friday May 20th 2011 and all I can say is that this train is extremely fast but with commuter comfort and hard seating. 395 012 later to be named (Trainbow) at St Pancras with 1F62 to Faversham. A very impressive experience and definitely the most profoundly accelerating and braking train I have travelled on in the UK. Hitachi ended up being the shape of things to come on the ECML, WCML, GWML and some Trans Pennine services. And with more in the pipe line for other TOCs one wonders if all eggs in one basket is a wise idea?
