Clearing some deadfall off the trail this one will take a while.

I went to a near by bridge at night and got this photo with a 1 1/2 min shutter. I did use a CP filter even though I didn't need it.

FRUITVALE is a village located in south-eastern British Columbia in the West Kootenay region. It is located 16 km east of the city of Trail along Highway 3B. It was originally named Beaver Siding in 1893 as it was a railway stop for the Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway (later acquired by the Great Northern Railroad). In 1906, Fruitvale Limited purchased a great deal of land on both sides of this stop. As a bid to attract settlement in the area, Fruitvale Limited change the name to Fruitvale. Sadly, the new settlers found that the growing season in Fruitvale was not long enough to be prosperous. Although the community is over 100 years old, Fruitvale was formally incorporated as a Village on November 4, 1952. The village of Fruitvale is situated in the Beaver Valley, which is made up of Fruitvale, Beaver Falls, and Montrose.

It was not long before a boarding house, hotel and general store were built in FRUITVALE by Mr. J.N. Hammond. A Post Office was also opened, on December 1st, 1907 with Mr. J.N. Hammond as the first Postmaster.

Star trails

Shot from my backyard tonight.

Tricks for this shot!

Camera setting.

Full manual mode

Use the widest lens you have

at the widest setting

Manual focus set to infinity

A - Widest available

ISO - 200 ( 400 if you have a good Noise control programme)

Shutter speed... This is the tricky part and depends on the camera. In manual mode change to 30 second ( some use bulb mode for 1 - 4 hours)

Change from single shot to burst mode ( ie camera will take photos as long as the shutter is pressed). Use remote release in the locked position.

If you don't have a remote release it is hard work. you have to stay with the camera and press the button every 30s

Use Mirror Lock up feature if available.

Fully charged battery ( ideally newish)

Record as RAW only

Use the heaviest tripod you can get

I had to use a microwavable warmer to warm the lens (dew). Place it on top of the lens before shooting. Battery operated fan after ~ 30min will also help.. disadvantage is that you have to walk to the camera :-)

Press and lock the remote release and return in 1 hour.. Job done

Workflow

File > Script>Load files into stack> Choose source file>tick the box for convert to smart object

tick align ( I did not..)

come back in 10 min ..depends on the speed of your comp. You will see just the first image on top.

Layer>Smart objects> Stack Mode>Summation

you get the sum of all non tranparent pixels in 5 min

Layer>Smart Objects> Rasterize

Last step

Image> adjustment> Black& White> tick Hue

Tweak to your hearts content after this step

Use NR Plugin

This was my first attempt.

I did not include an intersting silhouette. which is essential for a good picture.

May be next time.

I took this photo while on a family holiday in Tasmania in April 2023. It was a fantastic time away!

I took this photo on our first night at Cradle Mountain as it was epically clear skies - which is rare! The last time I was at this location to photograph stars I waited in the car for 45 minutes for clouds to clear only to get a pretty lousy shot! Anyway, I decided I would venture down to photograph some stars.

A few years ago they introduced a bus service down to Dove Lake from Cradle Mountain which limits vehicular access to the lake. I had done some research as I really wanted to get to this location to do some sunset or sunrise photography or star trails. It turns out that once the buses have finished for the day, vehicles can travel to Dove lake by driving up to the boom gates - which then just open. There are some proviso's and one of those is that if you are driving out after the bus service resumes, then you must follow a bus out. They radio to each other so they can safely pass one another on the narrow and windy road.

Anyway, I drove down to Dove lake and drove incredibly slowly. One other time I was here with my wife we saw so many wombats, wallabies and even a spotted quoll, so I made sure I took it easy.

This image was a stack of 36 images.

Trail Camp, located just above 12,000 feet, is a convenient place for hikers to set up camp for the night before summiting Whitney, located in the center background of this photo.

When we came into camp on early Monday afternoon, the place was already pretty full with more people trickling in every hour.

Pedestrian Trail, Slamet Riyadi Road, Surakarta City.

Jalur pejalan kaki, Jl. Slamet Riyadi, Kota Surakarta.

If I say city-walk, it's means really walk around the city by foot .

And don't worry, in the Solo, there is available pathways that exclusively build for pedestrian, which are shady and pleasant all along the main road!

Shade, lots of trees to cover.

When you tired on the way, please sit on a bench which available at the park on its edges.

And when you thirsty or hungry, please get a snack at the food-stall provided by the street vendors along the edges.

There are also available wifi free along this road, so you may open your notebook and surfing all day long.

This is all thanks to the Mayor Jokowi.

I think, Mr. Mayor does really want people of his city to be healthy, environmentally friendly, socially-minded and support the economy of small people, and to be cultured society.

Walk or bike to go out of the house, reduce pollution.

- And don't be wrong, Mr. Mayor Jokowi himself is give a real example! Every Friday morning, they said, he was always biking to villages, especially which has conflicts to meet people directly and listen to their aspirations -

Meet people and hang out, be open-minded and don't be an introvert!

Cadger, people who works to sell something in the street edges (PKL), are not to be despised or evicted, but to be empowered and laid out for the good of us all: we easily find snacks, small people easily find sustenance-

And you know what being a pedestrian is not boring at all!

This even fun, because along the way we can find a variety of people activity and also cultural performances which are totally of free, no charges at all!!!

* I just have not enough time to explore!!! *

Oh, how I love this city and his Mayor.

No wonder that Mr. Jokowi is now being nominated as the best Mayor of the world!

===========================================================================

So santai aja, kalau mau silakan berselancar seharian di sana.

*saya saja sampai kekurangan waktu*

Monsal Viaduct constructed in 1860's.

Headstone Viaduct

A picture-perfect structure, spanning the beautiful River Wye, the Headstone Viaduct is an impressive sight from anywhere surrounding the Monsal Trail. It is 300 feet (91m) long, with five 50 feet (15m) arches, and is 70 feet (21m) high at its highest point. From the Monsal Trail itself it also provides a perfect aerial view along the Upper Wye Valley.

The Headstone Viaduct is a protected structure, with a Preservation Order placed on it in 1970 to reflect its historic and architectural importance. It was not always so loved, however, and when it was first built in 1863 the poet John Ruskin noted:

‘The valley is gone, and the Gods with it. Now every fool in Buxton can be at Bakewell in half an hour, and every fool in Bakewell at Buxton.’

His words are displayed on the viaduct today.

The Monsal Trail – 8.5 Miles of Blissful Views

The Monsal Trail is a traffic-free path running for 8.5 miles between Combs Road in Bakewell and Blackwell Mill in Chee Dale, in the heart of the Peak District National Park.

The path follows the former track of the Midland Railway Line, constructed in 1863 to link Manchester and London. Its route ran through the beautiful Wye Valley on the orders of the Duke of Devonshire, who refused permission for the railway to run through his land close to Chatsworth House. The railway closed in 1968 and was converted into a pedestrian trail in 1981.
