An eastbound on the South Bend Sub grinds up Valpo Hill with a poorly-constructed trio of power. The Dash Nine should have been trailing and that elderly C40-8M should have been the leader.
A cowl unit passing the Type G signal would have been a better choice for me, although the crew appreciated the better ride in the Dash Nine,

A light snowfall placed just the right amount of snow to make the trail interesting - and hide the icy sections...
I don't often shoot trains for trailing units but I'll make an exception every so often. It helps to have a scenic setting such as the old Reading Bridge too.
A gorgeous July morning brought us the eastbound 16T with three forgettable GEs up front. But behind those are what everyone was interested in.
The still-wearing-primer on it's new cab Dash 8.5 #8508, the...uh...awkward looking GS14B, a former Penn Central SW1500 turned toaster #2120, and new Sonic Bonnet DC-to-AC traction AC44C6M #4000.
Sliding by in perfect formation, the Royal Air Force Red Arrows display team pay homage to the Vulcan as she made her last ever Royal International Air Tattoo appearance.

TA Trail casualty. Sheep stuck in a crevice. We spent a hour trying to rescue this sheep with no luck so hope he or she got out ok. Often wonder what happened.

The Barnsley Trail is a short walk of some four and a half miles or so that starts in the Pondwell area of the Isle of Wight. All of my photos of this walk have been taken during the rural section of the trail which is the most interesting.

DB Cargo Class 66/0 No. 66007 runs through Wyedale and crosses over the Monsal Trail with 6H52, the 13:07 Dowlow Briggs Sidings – Ashburys loaded aggregate working on 26th November 2020.

This shot is dedicated to Hulalulatallulahoop (i) because she's from really close to where I grew up (ii) because she's unfortunate enough to be addicted to Big Brother and therefore deserves some friendship and (iii) because she's just told me that these vapour trails are called contrails. Oh, and also because she is a star. :)
You can never know when or where you run into your next adventure!
Okolehao trail climbs 400 metres from he floor of Hanalei Valley. Steep path follows old dirt road for a moment before disappearing into jungle. Few plateaus on the way up reward one with magnificent vistas over Hanalei Bay.
This handheld panorama is from the higher of two plateaus along the path.

Flattop Mountain Trail, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. This sign marks an endpoint of two trails, Flattop Mountain Trail and TonaHutu Trail. Also, present is the North Inlet Trail off of the TonaHutu Trail at a distance of 0.3 miles. While reaching this sign is viewed as reaching the summit, the actual unmarked summit is at a somewhat higher location. My original plan was to also hike around 400 added feet to the top of Hallet Peak, but considering the growing cloud cover and possibility of a storm, I chose to descend back to the trailhead quickly without taking any further photos.

These buildings and wagons were moved from their original locations across the Bighorn Basin to The Old Trail Town collection in Cody Wyoming by archaeologist and historian, Bob Edgar. The buildings date from 1879 to 1901 and represent the history of Northwestern Wyoming. Included in the collection are original cabins used by Old West outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; a Wyoming saloon frequented by Cassidy's "Hole-in-the-Wall Gang", as well as the the log cabin home of "Curley" a Crow Indian army scout who helped guide Lt Col. George A. Custer and the U.S. 7th Cavalry to the battle of the Little Big Horn in 1876. Currently the collection includes 26 historic buildings, a graveyard and many wagons and other artifacts. Old Trail Town exists today as a memorial to the uniquely American experience known throughout the world as "the Old West".
During the 1960's Bob watched as some of old historical buildings of the Big Horn Basin disappeared from the landscape. He decided one way to save some of the buildings were to gather them together into one collection. Starting in 1967 Bob moved 26 historic structures to "Old Trail Town"which is located in an area where Buffalo Bill and his associates had chosen for the first town site of "Cody City" in 1895. He also collected and relocated hundreds of artifacts such as wagons; farm equipment, house furnishings; etc. to the collection.
A look at the Tanawha Trail near Boone Fork. This trail skirts the rough edge of Grandfather Mountain, where it is most widely known for interacting with the commonly photographed Linn Cove Viaduct. Outdoor lovers will appreciate it as much for its wonderful views of a rocky but lively forest.
Long Pine key hiking trail not far from the campground in Everglades National Park. We were looking for butterflies but actually saw a Pine Warbler, a Brown-Headed Nuthatch (another lifer) and a Blue Gray Gnatcatcher. It's nice to see some of the birds migrating back to Florida. We ran into a flooded area a short distance down the trail and had to turn back.
