016 - Martin Luther King Day. I think this will be last free weekend I have until the latter half of February. Works gonna be picking up, but I have a trip in March that I'm really looking forward to.

Ever have a problem getting a signal to trip for you on your bicycle? A solution, if it is available, is to ride slowly, off to the right, and let the car behind you pass. That way, the car will trip the light.
Yes, in a perfect world, the light would properly sense me and my bicycle. Unfortunately, lights tend to be designed to sense cars.

I've had mixed results with this traffic signal. Sometimes I can get it to trip for me. Sometimes it won't. So this is an interesting video because it shows an instance that motor vehicles can be useful: to handle difficult-to-trigger traffic lights.
(No, unlike many of my other photos this one is NOT of a motorist disobeying a traffic rule.)
If I had pressed the button a second or so sooner, you'd have seen the LED walking man over the incandescent man.
The backs did in fact, say "Econolite" on them. Dana Point is loaded with Econolite signals.

A not-so-unique signal in Anaheim, CA heading toward Yorba Linda, CA. According to the NAVTEQ map that Flickr uses, a lot had changed at this intersection in the past couple of years.

It looks like this light gets a separate left turn face, but why one isn't installed for the other direction should be a bit of concern, especially if they continue to use a lag left. (See that photo for more details
