Seems like the sad smilie is something of a significant symbol for train people.

Love them or hate them it is hard to argue that the traffic light is not a great egalitarian device which provides consideration to all. Except the pedestrian signals have always appeared as green men. Here in Whitehall everyone gets a turn. Despite the unconventional signals nobody is confused, roads are crossed and the world doesn't end.
