Hope you are having a great Sunday? It’s been another gloomy weekend morning so far here at mid west. And while we are all waiting on fall to reach our borders I’ve been shooting locally so far. This is a frame from last week with some sun tracking behind the lighthouse. What do you think?
A quick tutorial as to how this picture evolved. I posted a similar shot in bw awhile back without the clouds, birds etc.
Below you will see the three images that comprise the main image. Often a shot is really great but lacks something. Something that can make it dramatic and eye catching.
Here I also used the burn tool in Photoshop and overlay layer to get the desired effects in the dune and clouds. The birds are a brush from Skeletal Mess.
This image took about an hour to produce from start to finish. This obviously excludes going on location(s) which is entirely another matter.

I can never resist the simple composition of tracks taken with a wide angle. This was taken the day before we got a pretty good dump of snow. I will try to go back and reshoot with more snow cover. I expect it will look quite different.
I kept the camera close to level so as to not have leaning verticals, so of course there was much more sky in the shot, and although I do really like it with all of the extra sky, I like this version as well, and decided to go with it and the extra resolution that it would allow in the tracks.
Tomorrow, an intermission and something COMPLETELY different.

Animal tracks slowly melt away on ice.

Uihlein WPA, is a 2,171-acre preserve managed by the Leopold Wetland Management District, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service mostly in the Town of Utica with parts in the towns of Rushford and Nepeuskun.

This is not the same track as I posted some time ago. I had to act quickly, the tide was coming in very fast, I was only able to take one shot. I am not quite sure, but I think I like this one best.

I captured this scene from an overpass near Bologna Centrale station, across from the signal house with its steel framework spanning the tracks. In the center of the structure a large clock was mounted, clearly visible above the converging rails and electrical lines.
The design of the signal house itself stood out to me, its elevated form and intricate framework contrasting with the dense infrastructure of tracks, wiring, and surrounding urban buildings.
