St Margaret's Parish Church in Roath, Cardiff. Founded by the Normans in the eleventh century, the previous building was demolished in 1869 to be rebuilt to the design of John Prichard. Opened on the 10th July 1870 & financed by the 3rd Marquess of Bute. The tower was added in 1926. One of the most notable features of the church is the Bute Mausoleum. Located here since 1800 but rebuilt between 1881 and 1886 by the 3rd Marquis, eight members of the Bute Family including the first Marquis & his two wives are interred here in pink granite tombs. By 1870 teh Bute family had converted to Catholicism & no further burials took place.
One of the most noteworthy of Cardiff's churches and not just because I got married here in 1994.
