As part of a series of CNY Family Fun activities leading up to the Year of the Dragon in 2024, the Illuminated Dragon Dance is probably one of the more eye catching ones.
With LED lights all the entire length of the dragon (especially at the head), it is a sight to behold and touch for the spectators under the fluid movements of the dragon dance troupe.
The Llanquihue National Reserve is one of the oldest protected wild areas in the country, it was created in 1912 and is located in the Andes mountain range, in the province of Llanquihue, communes of Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt and Cochamó, in the Region . of Los Lagos. Geographically it is located west of the Reloncavà estuary, in the mountainous area it extends north of Lake Chapo.
It is part of the Temperate Rain Forests of the Southern Andes Biosphere Reserve.
We can appreciate the impact on the vegetation and its erosion, resulting from the eruption of the Calbuco volcano in 2015.

This is apparently a test of skill for the pilot, as every balloon would come back down and set the basket on the Hudson River and stay there for a while before rising again.
this photo was taken on another great hike through the woods. Spring makes it very beautiful and adds that special dimension where you can almost touch the light.. :)

This was the first time I'd seen weasels pause in a close and tender moment for any length of time. Oddly fitting for it to happen a day before Mother's Day, as I believe this was a mother and child (the taller weasel had clearly been nursing and the smaller weasel looked incredibly inquisitive).

This was taken in the ALPs mountains when the tempreture was -14! I was 3800 meters high on this mountain. It was my first time to shoot in these conditions where snow is covering every where and lighting is not so equivelent.
I used my 10-20 sigma lens with cokin Polacolor blue filter and ND8 to balance the lighting, over exposure with 0.3 stop to make the snow bright.

I think i'm finally getting used to the new flickr although it is still taking a bit longer to comment due to having to keep reopening comments... i'm sure there's a faster way, just reckon i'm missing it.
i'm still feeling icky and so is liam, but we're no worse than yesterday so hopefully, by tomorrow, we'll be on the mend!

- www.kevin-palmer.com - On June 23rd, just outside of the tornado capitol of Wyoming, this noodle touched down. When the storm first formed in Chugwater, the clouds were spinning so fast it felt like I was watching a sped-up time lapse in front of my eyes. Tornadoes require several ingredients to form and if you have too much or too little of one then they won't happen. The Laramie Range west of here is a reliable source of lift to get updrafts going. Moisture has been more than abundant this year, as any Wyoming resident will tell you. But until this week, wind shear for severe storms was lacking. Though severe storms happened on the 3 days prior to this, cool temperatures prevented enough atmospheric instability for them to live up to their true potential. But then on Friday all the conditions came together just right for a long lived tornadic supercell. Wyoming hasn't had a day like this in several years. The storm was not one and done. It put down at least 8 twisters, depending on who you ask. Many of them were brief, but also photogenic. There was no damage reported, at least not until the supercell crossed into Nebraska.
