Nacelled Wright R-3350. Some beauties never loose there looks, and no there's no blood in her lines, shame....

A pedestrian walks among triangular shadows cast inside an elevated bridge crossing. Called "Torque", the bridge was designed by artists Jennifer Marman and Daniel Borins and New York-based architect James Khamsi of FIRM a.d. and connects the Delta Hotel to the existing PATH system.

One of the most intriguing cars at the 2018 New York International Auto Show was the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Sebring Orange Convertible. This amazing $121,000 Vette represents a high water mark in Chevy’s iconic sports car history, technologically advanced and full of luxurious creature comforts by far the most overwhelmingly capable in both aspects. Under the hood 2019 Corvette ZR1 supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that puts out 755 horsepower and 715 ft/lbs of torque to its rear tires that can carry the super car from 0-60 in 3 seconds with a top speed 212 mph.

The New York International Auto Show is the oldest auto show in the United Stated held every April at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center in Hell’s Kitchen since it opened.

Power is the name of the game.

In order to create the much needed power you have to have the gigantic wind turbine to twist and torque it's way towards generating energy.

My macro Monday entry *stars* Torque bit set I tried to get more in focus by using f22 and a high ISO worked out ok 👍

A graceful gait, an elegant long-limbed stance, or this spontaneous pose under the photographer's gaze - all exude poise and dignity amid the weekly market bustle in Ethiopia's lower Omo Valley.

Omalle, a young married Hamar woman, vogued this pose against a painted wall at the marketplace in Turmi, a small multi-ethnic frontier town in the remote Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region of southwestern Ethiopia. Shot directly under the midday sun near the end of a long dry season regularly exceeding 40°C in the shade.

Elegantly adorned with a traditional cowrie-shell collar, seeded necklaces, copper bracelets, glass-beaded goatskin clothing and iron marital torques. The upper torque with phallic protrusion is wrapped in leather, signifying first-wife status. The torques are worn for life.

The hairstyle consists of long, tightly twisted strands rubbed in a mixture of fresh cow butterfat, ground red ochre and tree resin gathered from the lower Omo River Basin. The ubiquitous chewing stick favoured by peoples of the lower Omo Valley serves as a natural toothbrush and dental floss all in one.

Other editions of this photograph include the Lonely Planet cover for Ethiopia & Djibouti , 6th edition, 2017; and an article on the chewing stick in AfroStyleMag, Issue 7, 2012.

Taken for Active Assignment Weekly: Music to Your Ears

WIT: A sparkling candle that doesn't sparkle much; flash; and a long exposure.

The inspiration here is 'Torque' by Kristin Hersh. Download, free & legal, in high quality here. Lyrics here. I only discovered her music some three years ago, and now listen to it all the time. Especially since I found out about her latest album.

Just now I found this page with the history of the song. Anyway -- the photo is about this bit here where a human being's very nature is explored and questioned.

For the Macro Monday theme of measurement I have chosen a torque wrench with a 3mm and 5mm socket - this is a wrench for by bikes both road and mountain bike as on a carbon frame it is important you measure the force you apply when tightening bolts or fixings.

- Alexander Wilson founded the company in Vauxhall, London in 1857. Originally named Alex Wilson and Company, then Vauxhall Iron Works, the company built pumps and marine engines. In 1903, the company built its first car, a five-horsepower model steered using a tiller, with two forward gears and no reverse gear. This led to a better design which was made available for sale.

- To expand its production, the company moved the majority of its production to Luton in 1905. The company continued to trade under the name Vauxhall Iron Works until 1907, when the modern name of Vauxhall Motors was adapted. The company was characterised by its sporting models, but after World War I, designed more austere models.

- In 1925, Vauxhall was bought by GM for US$2.5 million. The influence of the American parent was pervasive and together with the Ford Motor Company, Vauxhall's main competitor, led to a wave of American influenced styling in Europe that persisted through to the 1980s.

- The body with the dog's leg screen and tailfins, is identical with the Velox, but the Cresta was more luxurious. Though a luxury car, it was not seen as an "elite" car despite Queen Elizabeth II owning and using one to tear around Westminster in as her personal transport.

- They were assembled in Luton, Bedfordshire - United Kingdom, in New Zealand and in Australia.

The 105 series Coupe was designed by Bertone and fitted with a 1570cc engine, five speed manual gearbox and coil suspension all round, Early cars had disc front brakes and drum rears, later cars Dunlop disc brakes all round. Later 1966 GT Veloce cars are fitted with twin carburettors and have an output of 109bhp and top speeds of 110mph.

In 1966 the Giulia Sprint GT was replaced by the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce, very similar but featuring a number of improvements: a revised engine—slightly more powerful and with more torque—better interior fittings and changes to the exterior trim. The Sprint GT Veloce was introduced at the 36th Geneva Motor Show in March 1966, with production commencing in 1965. The Veloce's type 00536 engine, identical to the Spider 1600 Duetto's, with larger diameter exhaust valves than the outgoing GT model increasing power to 108hp (109 PS) According to the manufacturer top speed now exceeded 185 km/h (115 mph)

Though the Sprint GT Veloce's replacement—the 1750 GT Veloce—was introduced in 1967, production continued throughout the year and thirty final cars were completed in 1968
