So you use explosives to drop an 84-year-old bridge into the Guyandotte River. Then you use a crane to lift a large piece of the bridge to put it in a barge for transport to a steel recycling mill. But once the big piece of bridge is in the barge, you might hve to cut it some more, as this fellow was doing.

I remember doing the time warp - I also remember photographing the Torcher parade for the last 17 years...
"You are far
When I could have been your star
You listened to people
Who scared you to death and from my heart
Strange that you were strong enough
To even make a start
But you'll never find
Peace of mind
Til you listen to your heart."

Ian's nomination story
Although physically handicapped from an early age, Ian has never let this prevent him from pursuing his ambitions as a long distance runner. In order to compete in all the marathons that he has, he has to continue training even though he knows that he is likely to trip and fall many times. Alongside this, he works hard for his local running club and helps encourage the younger runners in their training as well as marshalling for local and national events. At work he is the epitome of selfless support, willing to help others for the benefit of the business whatever the personal cost - from staying late to making the multi bus journey into work at weekends to help resolve urgent issues. As a keen athlete, I know that Ian would also fully appreciate the honour of being the Olympic torchbearer.

Rick's shot. This dramatic modern Nike in the modern village of Olympia is by a Georgian sculptor, Giorgi Shkhvatsabaia (another source also names a second artist, Georgios Glyptis). It was created for the 1992 torch lighting for the Barcelona Olympics.
It was maddeningly difficult to find any info on this -- the plaque on the base was in Georgian, which I at least recognized as such (barely), but couldn't do anything with. None of the tourism sites seem to mention the object. There was something on waymarking.com, but it seemed like a dead end, and I couldn't tell where they got their info from. art.gov.ge/en/portfolio/shkhvatsabaia-giorgi/ finally came through with corroboration.
