The view of the Olympic torch bearer is not particularly exciting with the press van full of cameras driving along in front of them.

The Lerwick Up Helly Aa is a fabulous fire festival that takes place on the last Tuesday in January. Around 900 men, all in costume, carry flaming torches and drag a Viking longboat through the streets and then set fire to it by throwing the torches into it. The procession is spectacular and attracts people from all around the world.
Lovely. For the Ugly Sweden Group. A stolen Volvo at HÃ¥ga in Haninge. Same car before they torched it.
The Olympic Flame or Olympic Torch is a symbol of the Olympic Games. Commemorating the theft of fire from the Greek god Zeus by Prometheus, its origins lie in ancient Greece, when a fire was kept burning throughout the celebration of the ancient Olympics. The fire was reintroduced at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, and it has been part of the modern Olympic Games ever since. The torch relay of modern times which transports the flame from Greece to the various designated sites of the games had no ancient precedent and was introduced by Carl Diem, with the support of Joseph Goebbels, at the controversial Berlin Olympics as a means to promote Nazi ideology

The "Toilet Torcher" has now become apart of a regional advertising campaign. I guess who ever is behind this is getting all the attention they every wanted and more. My guess is that they will not torch another toilet. There is way too much publicity behind this now. If they are smart they will walk away knowing that they were able to burn 27 toilets and not get caught. This is like our modern Zodiac killer. In 30yrs we will see a movie about the toilet torcher and all the conspiracy behind who did it. Any guesses as to who will be the possible suspect?

Ian's nomination story
Although physically handicapped from an early age, Ian has never let this prevent him from pursuing his ambitions as a long distance runner. In order to compete in all the marathons that he has, he has to continue training even though he knows that he is likely to trip and fall many times. Alongside this, he works hard for his local running club and helps encourage the younger runners in their training as well as marshalling for local and national events. At work he is the epitome of selfless support, willing to help others for the benefit of the business whatever the personal cost - from staying late to making the multi bus journey into work at weekends to help resolve urgent issues. As a keen athlete, I know that Ian would also fully appreciate the honour of being the Olympic torchbearer.

I should be getting torch tanks from airgas soon. Hopefully tomorrow. I want to finish Gabe's track bike already! This bracket will secure them to the wall with the ratchet strap.
Oh, yeah, these are pictures from my new shop in Syracuse, NY. I've left the comfort of free access to my dad's farm shop in rural Michigan. It's a great space, and the people I sublet from have a friendly puppy who hangs out all day. It's super dark though, so it's been almost impossible to take good pictures until I got my lights fully hooked-up today. It's still hard to take pictures away from my bench. I'll take some shop pictures with a tripod and a wider lens soon.
