On the south end of beautiful Torch Lake, right in the middle of the lake, is a large, shallow sandbar that becomes a huge party location for boaters, especially on Labor Day weekend.
The party included the "burger barge," a volleyball net, kids, dogs, and people who set up tables and chairs in the water. Meanwhile, boats zoom around the perimeter of the sandbar in the deeper waters. There were roving gangs of young guys and girls trying to pick each other up, and most everyone is walking around with a beer in hand--unpretentious cheap beer, that is, like Old Style or Miller Lite. No Oberon here!
My dad and I kayaked out to the party, tied them up to an obliging power boater who was anchored there, and made the rounds ourselves. Eventually, we joined a volleyball game too. Good times!

I was on my way home yesterday morning & I heard the emergency services,looked round & it was the fire service,they came in here just as I was passing this street,the flames were 15' in the air. Went back Friday evening to take a pic. Golf looks as though it's been torched,fire seems to have started in the interior,though I might be wrong! Some ppl are so damn indescriminate & don't bother who elses motors get damaged/wrecked,interior of the Citroen's toast as well
Members of the Windsor Police and their families took part in the 2008 Torch Run at the Riverfront Festival Plaza. Proceeds from the run go to the Ontario Special Olympics.
