Guildford was the host of an "evening celebration event" at the end of Day 63 of the Olympic Torch Relay. This was held at Stoke Park, and due to there being no parking at the site, four park and ride services were operated, managed by Arriva Guildford & West Surrey.
The park and ride to Merrist Wood College, Worplesdon (at GU3 3PE) was operated by Arriva Guildford & West Surrey using a mixture of its own buses and vehicles hired in from its sister Southern Counties subsidiaries.
It used the back half of stop A at the Spectrum leisure centre, which is the stop usually used by standard Guildford park and ride service 100 to pick up passengers going to/from the leisure centre itself. The layby is two buses long, which came in handy as it meant two routes could use it.
All four park and ride services were free (though obviously open only to ticket holders of the event) and started at 1.00pm, running to 5.30pm. There was then a gap until 'home time', with services running from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, although last buses departed from the Spectrum at 10.00pm.
Parking at the sites was on a first come, first serve basis. The services were scheduled to run every 20 minutes, though in practice were running far more frequently than that, with buses departing the terminus as soon as they were full.
A little bit of bunching on this service seen here at 2022, with Arriva Kent & Sussex B7TL/ALX400 6448 (GN04 UFU) being joined by its Maidstone sister 5434 (W434 XKX), which has a Dennis Trident chassis.

The Olympic torch came to the bottom of our street so we wandered out to watch as they passed the torch from one runner to the next (actually each runner had their own torch!).

I got a shot of this sign awhile back. This time I'm capturing it with my cell phone's black and white filter.
If you have the time, View On Black
An incredibly beautiful lake, Torch Lake is 18 miles long making it Michigan's longest inland lake and second largest inland lake.
The mackerel has been marinated in a vinegar sauce. The taste reminded me of eating herring. The final touch was used to grill the fish.
The Olumpic torch was coming to Plymouth and we couldn't miss it.
We took a walk down to Stonehouse bridge so we could get a good view, we had thought about going on to the Hoe but knew it would be busy.
We go to the bridge in plenty of time so we could get a good spot. There were people dressed in Union jack dresses, shirts, there was even one man dressed as a knight.
First we were treated to a procession of trucks playing music, there was a Coca Cola truck, samsung and Lloyds, each truck had people waving and dancing, then a bus went past with the remaining runners. The atmosphere was fantastic as they went through, people were then saying that the torch was on the bus as they were running late so people began to leave.
We decided to hang on just to make sure and I'm glad we did.
I'm not sure who this torch bearer is but he looked so happy and proud to be able to carry the torch it was so worthwhile taking the time to go and see him.
We then decided to take a walk up on the hoe to see if we could get a view of the cauldron once lit but we had no idea just how full the hoe would be.
When we got up there the security gaurds told us to go along the seafront as the promanade was closed.
We could not believe the site that we were faced with when we got around to the Plymouth Dome. I have never seen the hoe so busy, and never known the promanade to be closed off.
I'm glad that we saw the torch as it was a once in a lifetime oppurtunity.
Sorry the picture is a little out of focus.

The Torch is the 300m tall centerpiece of Aspire Park in Doha. It was built for the 2006 Asian Games and now serves as a luxury hotel. It is currently the tallest building in Qatar. As this image shows, the hotel lobby creates quite an impact!
The Olympic Torch passed through Lochwinnoch today, yards from our front door. Our son Omar who is a bit nocturnal was woken up by thousands of kids screaming and shouting outside!
There was a great atmosphere at the event and hte village was swelled by thousands of visitors. Thankfully, the rain stayed off with just a wee spitting occasionally.
Capturing a satisfactory photo was not easy, because there were so many vehicles, hi-vis jackets, motorbikes and hangers-on. It was difficult to get a clear view, I lay down on the edge of the road, head on my camera bag and put the camera in to Servo, continuous mode. Then picked a couple that were good enough to keep.
