We get it almost every night

When that moon is big and bright

It's a supernatural delight

Everybody dancin' in the moonlight

Everybody here is out of sight

They don't bark and they don't bite

They keep things loose they keep it tight

Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight

Historial Highlights

• Sold in June of 1966 by Shelby American to Marshall Motor Co., Mayfield Heights, Ohio - a certified Shelby Ford Dealer.

• First owner, Marty Davey of Kent, Ohio.

• March of 1967, owned by Bill Smothers (not to be confused with Dick Smother's of the “Smothers Brothers” Comedian Group), however, I have been "educated" by sundudeCAN that Dick Smother's did own a 427 Cobra at one time. Check this out - flic.kr/p/2iarvDT. Much thanks, Brian.

• Purchased by Bill Kemper (current owner) in July of 1984 with 18,000 miles and later restored to its exact, original 1966 condition.

Hope you’all enjoy……….as much as I enjoyed photographing this fine specimen………….

AFTERWORD:

In chatting with the owner of this car, Bill Kemper it was revealed that he is a member of the prestigious Autobahn Club and on their longest straight away this car clocked a top speed of 189+ mph. Now that's fly'in folks!. (No, he was not driving the car at that time).

Just in case there is any question as to where my allegiances lie for tomorrows race, this should help lay them to rest.

Unfortunately the XB, like the most famous of all the Falcons, the XY GTHO, never tasted victory at Mount Bathurst.

'74 Ford XB Falcon Coupe (Hardtop). 351 cubic inches, 224kw, 300bhp or at least that was the specs when new. I seriously doubt that she'd meet these specs today.

The Australian XB Falcon is famous for its role as the "Interceptor" in the Mad Max movies & is the most sought after Classic Australian Muscle Car in the US. Probably for this reason & because of its resemblence to the Mach 1 Mustang & the Torino.

Spending the day here yesterday inspired me to take a look at this image I captured back in April and see if I could make it a little better since learning a few things about post processing since then.

I now realise that is isn't quite as sharp as I'd like it to be. If I take a positive outlook then at least I now understand how to focus a little better and will not make the same mistakes in the future.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the original description:

The weather forecast wasn't looking great. 50-60% chance of precipitation on Y Garn and the Nantlle Ridge with heavy cloud cover and winds of up to 45mph throughout the night. I was desperate to take Gemma to a spot she'd never visited before.

I decided to wait as late as possible to make the decision. 1500 hrs and still sat pondering on the decision to head to Snowdonia or not. I knew it would take us an hour and a half to get to Nantlle and a further 2 hours to hike up to the summit of Y Garn.

Sod it, lets go! 1530 we jumped in the car and headed west on the A55. We arrived at Clogwyngarreg for 1700, just enough time for us to hit the summit and make the 'golden hour'.

Getting to the top was tough going! The footpath that I'd planned to take from Clogwyngarreg to Beddgelert forest had been closed and no longer providing public access. As a result the decision was made to head on a bearing taken on the cairns of Y Garn and head straight up. It cut the journey short by approx 1.5km but for what time gained here was lost due to the difficulty of the terrain: boggy, long grass and very steep!

We arrived at the ridge at around 1850. Just enough time to pitch the tent before finding the best composition for a photograph. The Met Office wasn't lying about the wind! It made a comedy sketch out our, well practised, tent pitching routine.

Once settled, the typical words sprung to mind: "that was worth it!

Fortunately, the clouds showed signs of clearing and I could see a small opening for the sun to shine down upon the west face of Clogwyn Marchnad and the summit of Drws-y-coed. It was just a case of waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

The time came! I had what felt like 30 seconds before the sun passed too far below the horizon. The wind made taking the shot pretty challenging. It made light work of shaking my camera all over the place despite using a tripod that felt like I was lugging a car up to the summit.

I did the best I could, and here is the result.

I had just enough time to call Gemma, who was sheltering from the weather in the tent, and ask her to come out to take one last look at the sunset. At this point the sky was turning deep shades of pink and orange. An amazing sight.

We retired to the windbreaker that was our tent, and finished the night with a game of cards, a small flask of whiskey and discussions about where our next adventure could be held this weekend.

Great evening!

1967 Mustang fastback - BULLITT

Couple of Friday’s ago I was at “The Meadows” cruise night taking pictures when I spotted this very cool looking Mustang. In the course of chatting with its owner, I learned a few things about this car………as well as the fellow who owns it.

Let me say firstly if I were ever to own a Mustang it would be this car……..or one exactly like it. This is a 1967 Mustang fastback whereas the original BULLITT Mustang was a 1968. As the owner pointed out, very little difference between the ’67 and ’68 Mustang fastbacks - merely a few cosmetic changes. The color of this car, although very similar to the one in the BULLITT movie, is a ’67-only Dark Moss Green. The one used in the movie was a ’68-only Highland Green, the latter being slightly darker than the car in this artwork.

This car is powered by a 390 FE V-8 (6.4L) Ford big block. Factory specs on this engine are; 320 hp @ 3,600 RPM with 427 lb/ft @ 3,200 RPM, having a 10.5:1 compression ratio. However, this Mustang is not exactly “stock”. The owner indicates the 390 is backed by a 4-speed Toploader (just like the one Steve McQueen drove in the movie.) “Breathing” has been improved with the addition of tuned headers (2.25-inch) exhaust dumping into Magnaflow mufflers, an Edelbrock 650 cfm 4-barrel carburetor atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake. A three-quarter race cam adds additional performance (as well as producing a nice, deep, throaty lope at idle.)

The icing on the cake (for me) was that in the course of chatting with the owner I discovered he is and has been a graphic artist for the past 26 years. In other words we talk the same language when it comes to Photoshop and other graphic art software. He is. however, much more proficient in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign than I. I was considerably impressed in viewing his illustrations created in Adobe Illustrator.

Btw- Work continues on my “Friday night at Johnny’s drive-in”. If I can live long enough maybe I will be able to pull off an acceptable scene.

Hope ya’all enjoy………….

Spotted at North Rode Vintage Rally. The same model that my Mum used from 1955 until 2012.

Back when I was single and living in my apartment, I used to come to this laundromat and it was positively dismal. Falling apart, hadn't been painted in years. I got my second job as a bartender and when it was still "extra money", I would drop off my laundry to the laundry lady and she would do all my laundry for me for 50 cents a pound. Coming back here yesterday after many years of being away, the same laundry lady was there and graciously let me take photographs. The walls have been painted in happier colors and in the back, over the toploaders was this great fabric stapled on the wall. You GO laundry lady!!!

I would love and appreciate everyone's support in voting for my pictures for the Capture Cincinnati 2009 photo contest. It's easy and free sign up...here's the link to this picture here and I have a bunch of others. Thanks!!!!!!

I liked the way the sunlight was illuminating the scene and the juxtaposition against the trees, the structure and the sky. Queen Creek, Arizona.

This one has its original 260 cubic inch ‘Windsor’ V-8 and 4-Speed transmission.

I attended the Barrett Jackson Spring 2025 Car Show at WestWorld in Scottsdale with my son.

This is a 1965 Shelby Cobra CSX 4000 roadster

www.barrett-jackson.com/scottsdale-2025/docket/vehicle/19...

This 1965 Shelby Cobra roadster was built by Shelby American as part of the CSX 4000 series. Under the hood is powered by a Shelby American aluminum 427 big-block Ford engine that has been stroked out to a 485ci, with a Demon carburetor getting forced air from a Vortech Procharger putting out 6 pounds of boost, making 650hp to the tires. It moves through the gears with a 4-speed aluminum Toploader manual transmission and puts power to the ground though a Ford 9-inch independent rear suspension. The body is painted in Guardsman Blue with white stripes on a fiberglass body and sits on a tubular chassis with 4-wheel Shelby Wilwood disc brakes, RideTech adjustable coilovers and rack & pinion steering. The car rides on Shelby knock-off wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle Cobra bias-ply tires. The interior features bucket seats with 2-point harnesses, removable wood-grain steering wheel, correct Shelby Gauges, and dual 6-volt Optima batteries and switches. On the transmission tunnel and glovebox door, it features one of the Shelby plaques, as well as the glovebox door signed by Carroll Shelby on his 85th birthday.

finance.yahoo.com/news/barrett-jackson-kicks-off-2025-215...

"Barrett-Jackson delivered many magical experiences for everyone who joined us in Scottsdale," said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. "From the excitement of the auction block to the thrill rides, exhibits, STEM Fest and live music, there was truly something that everyone in the family could enjoy. We filled our docket with so much diversity that collectors from every walk of life found something they loved. We stay on top of the trends and consign the vehicles that people want, proving once again that the car collector hobby is thriving. Those trends include the growing popularity of Resto-Mods, SUVs and trucks, which are gaining momentum because they appeal to such a broad cross section of people. I’m especially proud of our support for important charities again this year. We not only raised millions of dollars but also critical awareness that will help make a positive impact on so many communities."

www.classic-car-auctions.info/usa/scottsdale/2025-barrett...

In 2025, Barrett-Jackson earned $198 million by selling 2013 car lots and $5.2 million from 957 pieces of automobilia. A further $6.2 million was raised for charity.

The first production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 VIN001 achieved $3.7 million as a charity lot and the highest result at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2025 collector car auction in Arizona, USA. The most expensive regular lots were a 2023 Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster ($2,200,000) and a 2014 Pagani Huayra ($1,925,000). DJ Marshmello’s 2020 Ford GT Liquid Carbon Special Edition achieved a strong $1,780,000.

The top four results at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2025 collector car auction were all for modern supercars. The top result was for charity (see below) while the most expensive regular car in the sale was for the nearly new 2023 Hennessy Venom F5 Roadster. This F5 Roadster was the second of only 30 produced and was sold with only 681 miles on the clock.

Music for the Friday

Music for the Friday (1973 original)

Dania Beach Pier, Hollywood, FL

One moment I was getting my feet wet, the next the water didn't reach my shell at all...

Placing this conch is very tricky, I have to admit. Moving it closer I was risking another round of wet feet and more spray on the lens; keeping it in place and waiting for the waves to wash over it the moon was behind clouds again. Hence you get a stranded conch.

This is not HDR but a single RAW file processed in Adobe Lightroom 2.2; the clouds moved too much between the 3 exposures resulting in some weird artifacts.
