My boys never cease to amaze me....I found the toothpaste this morning like this. So I am assuming they did this last night??
....You'd think they wouldn't do shit like this...at ages 9 & 12....but I guess I'm wrong again!
On 4 February 1999, the flank of the Southeast Crater at the summit of Mount Etna ruptured, during the last in a series of more than 20 paroxysms that had started on 15 September 1998. A spectacular fracture ripped from the summit to the base on the southeast flank of the Southeast Crater cone, and at the lower end of the fracture, lava began to flow out. This marked the beginning of a 9-months-long eruption from that site, which quietly emitted lava from shifting vents, most of the time without explosive activity. The lava rapidly formed tubes, and often the only visible lava was that which came out at the end of a tube, in what volcanologists call "ephemeral vents". Here is one such ephemeral vent, located about 1 km downslope of the actual eruptive vent near the Southeast Crater. This is on a steep slope on the western side of the Valle del Bove, a huge depression in the east side of Etna, of which a part can be seen in the background. Through this ephemeral vent, lava is squeezed out like toothpaste. About 30 minutes after I took this picture, a sudden increase in lava supply through the tube feeding this vent caused a dramatic collapse of the whole area visible in this photograph, and the opening of a new, much larger ephemeral vent. What is Practical Christmas? Karyn and I select about 25 items (from the local dollar store) for our son, niece and nephew (and there boyfriend and girlfriend). A story is told as each item is opened. It is Hilarious and takes about an hour. Items this year included: deodorant, calendar, Smarties, cereal, Justin Bieber Cards, and Magic Sizing to name a few. The most memorable part of the holidays.

Young stage, During the plasmodial stage (when single celled individuals move about as very small, red amoeba-like organisms called plasmodia) individuals are reddish in colour, but these are almost never seen. When conditions change, the individuals aggregate by means of chemical signaling to form an aethalium, or fruiting body. These appear as small cushion-like blobs measuring about 0.3 cm to 1.5 cm in diameter. Colour is quite variable, ranging from pinkish-gray to yellowish-brown or greenish-black, with mature individuals tending towards the darker end. They may be either round or somewhat compressed with a warted or rough texture. While immature they are filled with a pink, paste-like fluid. With maturity the fluid becomes a powdery mass of minute gray spores.
