Some small layout tools I have made. The one on the far left is a sliding bevel of my design. It is designed to make it easier to lay out dovetails close to the edge of a piece of wood. The middle one is another dovetail layout square. Its odd shape enables you to rotate it with the little knob which sticks out, when you are near the edge of the wood again, where it is usually tricky to hold the square in place. The one on the far right is a simple little square designed to fit into the bottom of a dovetail where no other square will fit. It was a bit of a decadent luxury to devote so much time to cutting it out just for this one specific application, hence it is not the best finished in terms of polishing.
I made this tool back in the 80's, It was patterned after a Marchetti & Lange locating fixture. Back then most seemed to ride 42-52 chain rings and the tool was optimized for that size.
With so many of the rando bikes using 46-48 outer rings I wanted the mounting hole to be in the "new" sweet spot. I used the Linley to locate then drill the hole. Next the tap was held in the chuck to start the threads.
Later today the tool will be in use and see some heat.
This is my set of larger woodblock tools designed to be used with a hammer for extra power in removing wood. The set consists of two Soainomi for shallow cuts, three Asagata Marunomi (a shallow sweep), three Fukagata Marunomi (U-gouge), and a Kento Nomi which sole purpose is for making the traditional registration marks. At the top is a very nice English cabinetmaker's chisel, a shallow sweep. The Japanese tools came from McClain's in Oregon, the leather tool holder from Japan Woodworker in Alameda, CA, and the English sweep from a friend.

Walmart, 1994-built, W. Service Rd. at Rich Rd., West Memphis AR
Double cluster NGC844 and NGC869 with comet PanSTARRS (C/2017 T2). Taken with SkyWatcher Esprit 100ED, HEQ5 mount with Rowan belt, tracking only (no guiding), modified Canon 600D, flattener and clip in light pollution filter. Used AstroPhotography Tool to take 30x150s lights and 10 flats. Used 12 darks and 10 bias from a previous shoot. 80% stacked in Deep Sky Stacker. Processed in StarTools and GIMP.
