A temporary return to a genre I used to shoot almost exclusively for almost two years: not-landscape: vistas become intimate scenes of tree shape and form; colour becomes black & white; light turns to dull.
A worthy subject and style to revisit on occasion.
Return to Hakone Gardens, Saratoga. Shot with Fujifilm XPro2 and 35mm f2 lens in Acros.

Snowy path through the forest - like a nursery rhyme. Not a surprise these woods star in so many films.
It's a city in which autumn presides, and amber tones suit; the greys and reds merge and mute and rain swills through the leaves, softening them, as if with life. It's a city for holding a coffee cup in one hand, and a book in the other; a city for spices like nutmeg and ovens that don't quite work properly. It has the charm of a ball of string; uniform, yet threadbare. Outside the glass rain is pouring but cable knit sleeves on the keyboard make this okay.
