First: I love how the focus and lighting turned out, and yes, i am loving the grain. I took this on the plane on our way to Hawaii - for the adventure of a lifetime.
both of these rings have meaning. obviously, the wedding ring is a token of my love and devotion, and a symbol of our marriage, a reminder of the vows we have made to each other.
the other ring has a lion's head on the top. there are symbols on each side too (that i don't remember). He got this ring in Rome with his dad and brother. they made a vow to God with each other as witnesses. I cannot tell you what i was because i don't remember it, but it was a vow about being real men, that honor and fight for their family, and honor their wives or future wife for his brother. the lion represents God, the Lion of Judah. they all got a ring and they got plaques made.
its a big deal to michael. it has a lot of meaning for him. and he wears it every day. it's a different kind of promise. but just a beautiful as the promise of marriage.
i love my husband's hands.

Hard rubber token. E.J. Swift ran the House from 1866 to 1889 making this an early token for Santa Cruz as well as a rare use of hard rubber for tokens in California. This piece was dug on Beach Hill in the 1970s. I have been able to account for 5 surviving tokens based on catalog descriptions of known examples.
